Hey guys, my new computer has some pretty cool stuff on it, one of them being a video output jack. I could hook up my Xbox to my PC and have it display on the monitor. My only problem is I dont have a software program to take advantage of this. I have Windows Media Center but so far I don't see any soft of option in it to let me use those output slots. Does anything like that exist in Windows Media Center and if not, is there some software I could download to use it?

As I'm typing this, VLC came to mind but right now I cant test it to find out.

If there also another peice of software that I can use to record what I have on my monitor? I was thinking of FRAPS.

Basically I want to record stuff off my xbox without having to point a camera at the screen.

I'm confused - you say the computer has a video output jack, do you mean it has a video INPUT jack?

I would guess that a jack like that would be controlled by the graphics card software/driver.

Are you sure it's an output, not an input? Outputs are much more common. Inputs are usually on their own card, and ought to come with some basic software for using them.

Argh, I am getting confused now. What I can do is I can plug in my Xbox, or a VCR, whatever with the red, white and yellow jacks and the idea is that it's suppose to display through my computer.

if you've got red/white/yellow jacks then it sounds like inputs to me

    yep- inputs.
so with that video card, you should have no problems running video to your monitor.
And screen capture/recording your XBox should be a cinch.

    One of these might work:
Free Capture video software: Download Capture video

If you can't find anything good you might want to post a message on a thread on the YouTube and ask the poster what he\she used.

I expect to see our digital adventures soon! :thumb
