Director confirms and shares some ideas of his.

SDCC EXCL: Francis Lawrence Confirms Legend Prequel - ShockTillYouDrop.com

I think setting the movie right after the virus outbreak and with REAL actors for the dark seekers/vampires/monsters/zombies/whatfuckinever instead of CGI characters, would make the film a hell of a lot better then the first one. Though maybe they should change the title since really it has very little to do with the book, unless they somehow can get the message across this time.

Oh and big willy wants to come back to apparently.

Interesting idea. I'd go see it, especially if Will Smith came back.

They going to call "I Am Soon to be Legend" this time since it is a prequel?

Good story, pretty lousy movie, it always seemed all the interesting stuff happened before the events in I Am Legend.

Interesting. I'll more than likely go see this, as I really liked I Am Legend.

I was enjoying the movie before the CGI zombies appeared and un-suspended my disbelief.

If they use real actors this time, it might be worth a rental, at best.

I really didnt care for the movie myself. I thought it had a great beginning, good middle, and shitty ending. Prequel? Meh.

Wouldn't mind that. The flashback bits were excellent and made me want more.

Having actual makeup effects for the mutants instead of immersion-smashing CG would get big ups from me, but making a prequel that revolves around Will Smith's character would put me off it. I already know about his character enough to want to see different perspectives.

Seems like most of us agree that the CGI "zombies" were a bad choice.

I thought the movie was brilliant until they were focused on near the end.

I am Legend is a very overrated movie, the CGI was awful and the third act completely sucks, it becomes a cheap action movie and loses all sense.

Buuuut, virus outbreak and humanity collapsing? Sign me in as long as it has absolutely no similarity with the resident evil movies.

Not to derail too much, but yeah, I Am Legend was -ruined- by the CG monsters as far as I'm concerned. I liked parts of it, and the lead-up was great, but those things should have been make-up effects.
