As the title states, I am disappoint.

With the MakeToys Devastator picture popping up, and of course, Hercules, it's seeming more and more slim that I will be seeing an upgrade for Energon Devastator.

I think there's great potential with an upgrade kit from FansProject, even with these releases, however, my hope is dwindling. :(

I hear ya man, but keep in mind that

    A) Fansproject stated they would announce XF-03 this year which we can ASSUME is Devastator.
    B) no matter what the other companies do thier won't look at all like an upgraded ENERGON Devastator.

No big loss. Those Energon molds don't look like any G1 Constructicons anyway.

It is a huge loss, and I am huge disappoint.

But seriously Kaiju, I'm with you. I'm hoping beyond hoping That XF-03 turns out to be one for Devastator. An upgrade with a few new bots, new head, etc. etc. would kick SO much ass.

And, the fact that I know it'd look epic with my classics if FP did it...

For this particular set, a 5-bot approach might make the most engineering sense. Use 3 existing Energon molds and create 2 new ones a la FP Bruticus.

    It wasn't supposed to be.

The rumours going around are that FP is planning a Menasor update instead, which might turn out to be C-03.

Totally agree. I'm one of the few who actually don't mind the Energon Combiners but Constructicon Maximus is just terrible looking. Still love the individual bots though.

Ummmm, I thought Menasor was going to be a completely new combiner, and not an upgrade?

    The Crossfire sets are upgrades.

I too want some Energon Devy upgrades. And then a Nexus upgrade.

Devastator is a six piece robot. The energon powerlinx robots are five piece robots. It works for Superion and Bruticus, but not for Devastator.

but Energon devy isn't even a 6 bot; they would have to do heavy mods. I think Energon devy is actually the one that needs 3rd party the least amt. I mean, yes he looks bad next to the FP upgrades, but if you don't treat him as a devy, he looks pretty badass.

Exactly. And all six are supposed to be the same size.

Crossfire was never supposed to be an "upgrade-only" line, as confirmed by Venksta. The Crossfire line simply denotes that they're the brainchild of a designer who, at least originally, was from outside the FansProject core group. He's since joined the fray formally, though.

It just happens that his first two products were Combiner add-ons, that's all.

Note that Causality is a Crossfire sub-line, and none of those are add-ons to anything.

I'd love to see a proper upgrade for the Energon Constructicons, but i think Fansproject is going to play it safe what with all the Devastator and Not Devastators set to be released in the next year or so.

There's no doubt in my mind it would still sell, but i don't think Fansproject is willing to bet on it being as big as alot of their past releases.

And nothing says you have to buy it. but posts like that are what work against thos eof use who want such an upgrade set to happen from getting it. also 6 robots is G1 AWSOME for G1 but that wasn't the case in Energon.

G1 shows us Megatron isn't the total bitch of every person in the universe. But thats G1 not the Movie-verse.

To be honest, I don't think it has to be absolutely accurate for it to be successful. Six bots....5 bots...whatever...

If someone made an upgrade for these that looked good I think many of us would buy it, especially if FP made it. Fansproject has proven that with a little ingenuity, they can make just about anything work. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, don't see this happening at all. If the rumor that Maketoys has peeps from FP on it, I cannot see FP doing this.

Good news is that you can still sell it at a relatively decent price.

If it's any consolation I'm working on a PCC/Energon Conversion/upgrade that will allow 6 scout figures to form a Devastator. Just trying to iron out final details before starting the prototypes. This will require no mods for the base figures and an Estimated height of 12-13 inches, which should fit in with the FP scale of their Bruticus and Superion upgades.

Big Hank - That sounds sick.

And, I don't even know why the number of bots was brought up as if it matters for an upgrade kit to an existing combiner.

I do agree that it's the one that needs it the least, but I also think that it'd be the one that looks the best with it.

MX - How is Casaulity a Crossfire subline? It seems to be a line of it's own?

And I probably wasn't around when Venksta stated all of that about the brainchild stuff, but I'll take your word. The only thing I recall him stating is that one of the engineers WANTS to do it, but is getting foreceback because of the other releases.

And damn Big Hank, that sounds awesome.

Energon Devastator is too much its own thing to be repurposed into G1 as easily the two other Energon combiners could. It's better just to have a whole new one in a whole instead.
