If you could have walked into an ordinary retail store in the past five years, knowing what you did at the time, what one character would you buy multiples of? Basically, you walk into a store, and it just happens to be the one that had a dozen or more of the figure you want.

Hindsight is one thing, but I'm curious what might have happened without hindsight, just luck.

I'd buy three RTS Battle in Space two-packs with Cyclonus, Nightstick, and Rodimus. One to be opened, another as a spare incase one of the figures from the opened box gets broken, and another to keep MISB.

Nothing really. I don't tend to buy multiples. But multiple Prime Vehicons could almost be worth it...but that's present/future, and doesn't count here.:p

This is the first figure(s) that came to my mind also. It's amazing what a FansProject upgrade kit can do to the aftermarket value.

That was solely the thought. Especially when they were clearanced. A nice little stockpile of 20 of those would be a nice profit right about now.

For myself, it'd probably be RTS Wreck-Gar's, or if I lived in Japan, United Scourge's. Past, present, or future, I would have loved to have been able to get several of those.

While there are some figures I'm kicking myself for passing on before, there's nothing I'm kicking myself for not buying multiples of. I generally don't buy the same mold more than once; no repaints, no retools, no troop building, etc.. And since it's "knowing [only] what you did at the time" there wouldn't be any of that "I'm going to resell loads of x because it'll skyrocket in aftermarket value."

Protoform Optimus Prime...I would've bought 20 easily if I had the money and knew what the sequels had in terms of cannonfodder.

Yeah, it's pretty much limited to army building, customising, or ones you suspect will skyrocket in value. For example, if he weren't so expensive, right now buying up tons of Bulkheads would be a good hunch to play. He's outnumbered by Optimus by a 3-1 ratio in packages.

Leader, deluxe or the Target exclusive!?

Hmmmm...... Even for the past 5 yrs, I don't believe we can just find 50 plus (in one store) of a good potential army builder like the Junkions or the sharticons.

Now, rewind the clock to say the 80s when pretty much ALL stores are well stocked, I'd definitely buy a shit load of Wreckgars and Sharcticons.

Most of the things I might want at all or want more of are things I do not have simple because they never even made it to a retail store in my area, I should have bought a Shadow Commander Megatron really - but I found him somewhat unexciting even though the repaint is nicer he's still a poor mould - unfortunately he's still a poor mould only now he's a darn expensive one.

I made the same mistake in not buying Cybertron Galvatron.

Well when I said the Magnus/Skywarp set, back then I wasn't collecting. I bought one of that set for my kids off an endcap at Target for like $6.98 (might have been $8.98 but still) and I left a tiny dent in the fortress of black and white that stood before me. Had I been the collector then, pfft, I would have got a few of them. I like to get doubles of my favorites (Magnus and Skywarpo fit that bill:) ), maybe more if I can get them on sale or using coupons (loose bot mode, loose alt mode, sealed).

You never know what is gonna be hot or be the shelfwarmer of the year.

    Total crapshoot sometimes.

As far as the troop building goes, I'm pretty set on the 3 current figures that fall into that category (Scourge, Wreck Gar and Junkheap), so I'm good there.

Money aside though and thinking of troop building not financial gain I could do with another Skystalker Scout and another one or two Generations Scourge to function as Sweeps. and another Sidearm or a Blesser.

ROTF Bruticus or The skywarp/magnus set metioned above. Those would be great items to trade now.
