Praying that everyone stays safe. Packing up my collection and valuables in plastic and moving them to the center of the house. Riding it out here in Va Beach. If it weren't for the dogs I'd be gone. It's hard to find a shelter or hotel that will take 3. I just hope a tree doesn't land on the house or car.
yea I believe this is the first time ive been actually worried about a Hurricane hitting Delaware, they always move out to see before hitting is. but this time just feels different, the least I hope for is that it doesnt hit where I live. I dont think id be able to comprehend losing everything I own hope everyone stays safe out there, god speed to everybody
Right now I'm less worried. We're moving some outdoor furniture into the garage and bringing plants inside and such, but I think that's about the extent of prep we can do. My mom is freaking out because she was watching the news all night, and the news just loves itself some fear mongering. I heard it weakened slightly, so I'm taking that a good sign. I did buy 2 gallons of water though, just in case.
It was downgraded to a cat 2 this morning and it is showing a more westerly course, which means it could potentially lose a lot of steam before it gets too far north. It will still be a hell of a lot of rain and wind, but it's not looking like as much of a doomsday scenario that was projected yesterday.
but much worse than http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/gener...derials-170-passengers-whats-going-world.html ..........lol
We just evacuated my 99 yr old grandmother lol. I'M NOT LEAVING. I'M STAYING WITH MY BUD SILVERBOLT AND MY RODIMUS COLLECTION. We are all going to go down together. Everyone on the road today were trailing boats, bring their boats back on to the shore. Or getting ready to climb aboard once their house is washed away .
This stupid storm. Here I am, in West Palm Beach, Florida, thinking I'm in the clear of Irene. All of a sudden, she sends one of her federbands my way, with strong winds, rains, and the wind knocked over a tree, that knocked onto powerlines, that fell onto my truck. I left my cell phone hooked up to the charger in my truck. In the end, I had to wait for FPL to fix the electric (it's hot here, like 105 degrees heat index) AT&T fix the phone lines, Comcast to fix my cable and internet, and the mechanic to fix my truck. One of the mother boards got fried when the powerlines hit it. My phone got fucked too.
This storm is an ass. They're saying it will be like Hurricane Isabelle from 2003, which sucked because it did a tremendous amount of damage around here. I'm counting on losing power for sure.
The supermarkets are nuts here in Philly. No carts, people everywhere. Walmart was packed with people (it always is) but that was at 900am in the morning. Even the travel here was crazier than normal. Glad I'm not going to Ocean City now.
To the people up in the Northeast. Even if your house is undamaged, you still need to stock up on bottled water, can goods, flashlight, a grille and a full tank of gas for your car. It will be no telling how long the electricity will be out. Take it from somebody who had experiences with hurricanes.
pffft, my dad said that too. I'm like "it'll be raining I don't need water. Flashlight? I have a lightsaber! And where the hell am I going to drive to when the whole Island is flooded?"
As of right now the DC Metro Area will be on the fringe of Irene from the looks of it. Hopefully she won't decide to make a left anytime soon.
Well the warning wasn't meant only for Long Island. Are you planning on to ride out the storm? I did during Ivan, it was scary as hell.
Don't cut down your trees unless you can get someone to take them away. Trees and other debris can become projectiles during hurricanes.
Yeah, I know the warning wasn't only for the Island. I'm just saying for me . I'm going to ride it out, I'm totally psyched! I think this is my first real summer natural disaster. I slept through a tornado once, and lived being inside a burning 3 story building while the top floors were on fire. So as long as I survive this might give me a thrill, although I won't be one of those people out surfing. I regret nothing!
