If Fay was bad enough, now we have another one and they are saying it will enter the Gulf of Mexico this Friday and probably make landfall this Monday on Labor Day. It seems New Orleans is the target, but it can change course anytime. I informed my family yesterday if the storm hit town, then I am moving out of Florida, because three hurricanes in five years is enough for me. Hey Drake, what do you think?

Yeah my Lieutenant said it was expected to hit New Orleans. He told us to get ready to be deployed for supplement rotation.

According to Accuweather.com, the storm will miss Florida and hit somewhere along Lousiana or Texas. The bad part about that is the oil rigs along the coast of both of those states.

I noticed this morning that they're pushing it farther west now. Shell (greedy bastards, Fill-Ups Food Stores) have already raised their gas prices here in Fort Walton yesterday.

Late lastnight I called up a guy I know who works at a Tom Thumb food store and I asked him did they raised the gas prices. He told me no. But I heard one place in town has increased their gas prices of 24 cents.

Gas prices here jumped 16 cents over night,I'm guessing it has to do with the fact that Gustav might hit the gulf coast.

If I had to guess, the prices would go up because someone anticipates supply problems. Prices aren't about companies being "greedy" - everyone's greedy. They'll get whatever people are willing to pay and no more. So higher prices in a situation like that can actually help ensure that a potentially diminished supply of gas gets stretched farther by reducing hoarding. (Although that is not their goal, per se) demand/suppy=price. Supply down? Price up. They see demand increasing and supply at least holding steady and so the price is set higher. Back in the Carter years, they fixed gas prices. What happened? Supply dried up - lines around the block for gas. (Also demand can be artificially controlled, see "boycott")

Arguing supply and demand makes no sense when it comes to oil companies.

I just checked the reports and they are saying it will probably make landfall somewhere between Houston, TX and Mobile, AL.

I just found out awhile ago even if Gustav makes landfall in Louisiana, the
Florida panhandle will feel some tropical storm winds and get some of the rain bands.

Yeah we're getting prepared here. Got plenty of batteries, bottled water, lamps, candles, and beer...should be fun can't wait for the direct hit. Everyone around here is joking that Gustav is Katrina's husband coming to finish the job lol.

I'm living in south Mississippi. Sorry Loisiana but I'm praying for it to stay west of here. Hopefully it'll just clip us over here and not do too much damage. Just to be safe I stocked up on canned food and topped off my tank before the panic and price gouging sets in.

Looks like the gas companies are gouging in advance this time too.

It's a cat.4 hurricane now. And there is no shelter in the superdome. I don't live in New orlands but the remaints will probly travel up to me in PA.

Why does when there is a storm in the ocean the Gas prices go up? It's never happened before Katrina hit.
