Anyone who's seen District 9 might remember what the HUD in the mech-suit looked like when Wikus was under fire. Hit detections covering the whole damn thing, even if none of them were doing any damage.

I guess to put it in slightly more relatable terms, just imagine playing a FPS and taking a couple of ultimately non-letal shots while running to cover. Your screen shakes, you get these big-ass red damage indicators taking up a whole side of your screen. You're fine, but you're freaking out anyway.

 

I guess it's like being attacked by a swarm of mosquitos. Alone they don't do much damage, but you still flip out like a cat with it's head stuck in a jar.

We see them do exactly that, distract with gun fire while someone runs up and places a bomb on them.

 

As much as that WAS an explanation, it's a pretty shoddy one, when you think that the NEST troops could just as easily be carrying anti-tank weapons or those "sabot" launchers or even weapons designed specially for distraction, like chaff/flare launchers or emp-based tools. Seems to me getting a TOW rocket in your chest would also be pretty distracting. Since the soldiers would know they were going into an engagement with giant robots, you figured they'd equip themselves differently than if they were fighting people.

I did appreciate that they gave an explanation though, and I did like the minor exposition about them training in anti-robot tactics.

 

But remember the soldiers we spend most of the time with are not NEST, but just Epps and his former NEST gang. Their guns and equipement are their own, and I don't think it's ass easy to get the stuff you're describing.

While this is true, it shouldn't really be any easier for them to have the equipment they DO have, from a legal perspective at least. If they were using specialized equipment in NEST, I would have assumed that's what they'd have taken with them when they left.

I was under the impression the soldiers we see fighting in Chicago (especially Soundwave, Barricade, and Shockwave) for the most part were NEST, or at least NEST associated, and that's why they knew how to fight the 'cons.

Don't forget Megatron getting knocked about like a rag doll by the F-22s' missiles. I cringed when I saw that.

He'd have probably gone down to the F-22s the same way Blackout did.

It seems equally stupid that a mighty military force such as the Decepticons would not attempt to counter the humans' advances in weapons with improvements of their own, such as better armor.

My above statement aside, this one you cannot state for a fact. There are indications that Cybertronian advancements in military hardware did happen in continuities other than the Movie-verse. Combiners and multi-changers, for instance, did not exist from the get-go in G1 and TFA.

So he goes on the list of toughest Decpeticons, along side Starscream, Shockwave, Long Haul, and Barricade.

 

I would say it depends on the form the con takes, As we seen the first movie Brawl took a beating and was a tank. Bullets not so good vs. tank armor. Now were go to other cons in random cars and trucks that the Humans assault weapons can chew up. It adds a bit of realism if anything. Yes, I liked it.

The first movie got it right. Humans needed a lot of weapons to kill the Decepticons and that made them more threatening. Megatron was even hit by a crapload of missiles and that was only a minor inconvenience for him which allowed Prime to trip him. Brawlwas knocked down like three times and he got back up each time until Bumblebee showed up. I was ok with the humans killing Blackout because it actually gave them a purpose as well without stealing the spotlight.

 

Any reason as to why? Since the average ATGM can crack open MBTs like candy. And modern MBTS have really dense armor.

 

And that´s stupid. No way in hell Skywarp could destroy Beijing alone. The chinese would have drown him in bodies and machinery before that.

But then again, this is TFW, where it´s a sin that "puny humans" can defend themselves.
