Okay so here is the deal -

I am in a little bit of a boiling pit right now saying my Optimus is "transformable" so I am now saying it is "fully poseable" as it were.

This brings me to two questions for all of you -

    1) Would anyone be interested in a 30" replica of Optimus with future character models to be sculpted, and to scale - later on; probably one per month. They'd be non-functional, just a solid stone or solid resin-plastic copy. It'd probably come with some kind of a base, and if I were to do it in plastic, more than likely it'd be somewhat poseable... The stone would just be that, a stone copy that doesn't move. It'd be painted to match, all that good stuff...

    2) With the Prime sculpt, I am really debating whether or not to go the whole route - Meaning, a guy from Hasbro got wind of it and basically told me not to do it, when I was first given a green light, but I guess licensing is now saying different - SO - Who of you would say eff off to it, and who would go with it anyway? I mean, I am prob. going to go all the way with it - I just ordered my foam blocking for my sculpting cores... Anywho, pay more attention to the first question, about who'd be interested in the replica series I am going to do.

In having said that, the series would alternate between Autobot and Decepticon monthly or bi-monthly, depending on demand, mold prep time, sculpt time and so on. Remember, Optimus would be around 30" tall, and then everyone would be to scale from there on out...

Let me know who'd be interested...

    Thanks everyone,

    Adam

Personally, I'd be interested in a Soundwave :D . Though the price of it would be the major factor in my final decision.

well, at 30", if i can sell 10 a month, I'd prob. let them go for 200 unpainted @ actual shipping costs out of stone, 250 for plastic - the cost for resin is getting nutts... it'd cost me $150 just to cast it lol... I need some kinda profit for supplies... But a stone, in my opinion would have a better, haeavier feel to it, and its a lot easier to paint - so yea, prob. gonna do it in stone, 200 plus shipping un painted, 250 painted plus actual shipping.... And remember, it's 30" tall... Now, for soundwave, because of how it is shaped and consctructed, that I'd prob do out of resin, but for the same price - not a lot mass-wise ya know??

So what you mean to say is instead of straight resin, you plan on using a filler, making the final piece out of polystone?

If your paying that much for it your buying from the wrong place or not ordering in the quantity you should be for a product this size. Also if you going to mold something this large. I would go for a slush cast version out of resin over polystone. IMO, polystone is far inferior to straight resin.

Also, to comment on the legality of this whole thing. If anyone from Hasbro has conveyed to you that offering these for sale is a bad idea, yes, I would listen.

See, thing is, I am using gypsum - (sp) and here in FL it isnt exactly easy to find... So, cost is a tad more - I use other products in my casting stones to make it hard as rock, this way the thing has less of a chance of breaking, be it in transport, or once in the hands of the person who owns it...

And as far as Hasbro goes, I am merely suggesting a charge for time and supplies in developing a "working prop" for my portfolio that is in reality, going to Hasbro next June...

Not too worried - as said, I am just gauging interest...

And as far as slushing it, not going to happen - godforbid areas dont get equal coverage inside the mold, and it comes out 1/2 asses, Im not going to put my rep on the line for something that breaks because it's hollow - I am doing this thing solid...

Just the thing is, do i go with resin for a light weight, or the stone for a nicer feel... we shall see

Big Optimus sculpt is starting on October 25th unless the clay and foam armatures come in before then - but that is the scheduled start date...

So is this the same project that was going to be the biggest, best 50" tall transforming masterpiece with lights and a more accurate transformation - and now it's just going to be a statue? This one?

Please tell me this is something else entirely. The first sounded amazing, but a statue...not so much.

I agree with Megamoonman. Where's this project going? what happened to the hype you created for the fully replicated giant optimus? is he scrapped?

I'm not about to buy into this hype, until I see **something** worth being hyped about, other than words in a thread.

no reason to be hating on someone if they've promised a start date and we have even reached THAT yet.
