Wow, amazing what a little water can do. I'm not saying I'm envious, but where I am it's just flash showers and muggy weather. Hope you're all ok up there!

thanks guys, luckily I didn't lose power or anything. I am on the North shore but the real hard hit areas seem to be the South shore.

ilovedinobot, I actually left the house today at 6:20. It started raining by 6:25. By the time I got to NJ, they shut down almost all of the highway. They shut down route 3 in two places! I would still be there if I didn't take local roads. It took me over 2.5 hours to get to work. Boy was I not a happy camper. (I hope my newly acquired home is not leaking, we didn't move in it yet).

Flash floods are nothing to mess with.

I will never understand why people think they can drive their car through high water and make it.

Good thing you know back roads lol my dad probably does too, but there aren't many back roads in the city and that is where he drives every morning for work.

Sometimes people just want to get home, this really happend super fast, so I think alot of it was people went out not expecting such heavy rain so fast and didn't make it home or to work in time. But in that one pic it shows a young guy driving so yeah that was probably stupidity.

I'm fine thanks, I was really worried about the horse I put on my knee high water boots to get to the corral and I tried my best to get him in the barn he was just too scared. But it stopped raining now so hopefully he's ok, at least I can see him now. Before the rain was falling so hard I couldn't see the barn from my house.

If you really need a boat, I hear you can make on from raincoats and contact cement.

That sucks about the flooding... Hopefully nothing is damaged too badly.

Haha yeah them and me both!

INSANE FLOODING this morning - I ran around and took pictures, the water was up over the curbs and sidewalks, one poor guy's car stalled right in the middle of the road.

Newsday's gallery of it is just twisted - http://www.newsday.com/news/local/longisland/ny-listorm0719-pg,0,7217307.photogallery?coll=ny-top-headlines

(The photos tagged as Route 110 and Conklin Street? That's about a mile or two from my house. THAT'S crazy.)

Thankfully most of it seems to have subsided now... god so help us if we get a hurricane this year.

Concept useless without pics, here we go:

Stop sign NOT required, anyone with a brain wasn't driving through that (it was almost up to my knees in the middle of the road!)

    Need a bigger boat. Definitley.

Looking to the left (south). Scarey fact: right behind that flat of grass and the bunch of trees is the ramp connecting two parkways. I can only IMAGINE what the Parkways themselves looked like, but I could see the traffic was at a complete stand still.

And I'm probably going to hell for even having the idea, but I was two seconds away from grabbing my fishing pole out of the vestibule and posing in the middle of the road for a photo. BUT it started raining again and I ran inside (yanno, because I wasn't ALREADY soaked from wading out into the middle of the street.)

oh damn, yeah it wasn't nearly that bad near me. You know the while all this was going on the guy across the street from me had his sprinklers on. Talk about a waste!
