How's this for a simple melee system?

    Sorry I don't know the PS3 controls.

Press LS for quick melee (aka in WfC)

    or

Hold LS for quick melee but leaving the weapon out. Create a 3 hit combo by either clicking LS or by pressing RT.

Press Y to switch back to gun.

Simple. What do you guys think?

I like the idea of being able to keep your melee weapon out, there are those times in WFC where if you could even do a 2 hit combo you would get that kill especially when you catch an enemy mid transformation.

I would like the usual melee combo , where you press the button three times and it does a combo move ,
or off batman Arkam city, all the fight moves are seamlessly one after the other with no indication of the end of a certain move
    That would be awesome!

Here's simple: Press B/circle to punch.

We don't need melee combos in a multiplayer shooter. If it were a different kind of game, fine, but I would prefer they at least get the shooting part down.

Yeah the melée should be more like Arkham Asylum or Uncharted. That's one of the few disappointments I had with the first game.

I think having a melee system where there are more than just 4 types of weapons would be cool. It could use your system, where holding the button would cause the weapon to deploy, but also, the ability button would change to a melee ability button. Each ability is different for each weapon. These abilities take a long time to recharge due to their power.

    Scouts:
Knife: Power backstab. When cloaked, this ability will deal major damage to any opponent from behind.
Dual swords: Sprinting Slash. Movement speed increases, and blades stay in constant motion.
Shortsword: Power combo. Unleashes a flurry of powerful blows.
Electro staff: Stun spin. Move with the staff out, spinning the weapon. Stun effect. (Inspired by Prime Knockout's weapon)
Hidden blade: Corrupt. Inflicts damage over time. Does not uncloak user.

    Soldiers:
Broadsword: Power slash. Slash the opponent with a heavy, overhand swing. Slow attack.
Mace: Power shock. The impact sends the opponent flying backwards. Deals damage with impact and any wall hit.
Hammer: Ground pound. Especially effective from the air.
Chainsaw: Super rev. Fuel the chainsaw with a powerful energy, and slice down enemies with major efficiency.

    Scientist:
Spear: Throw. Throw the spear at an enemy. Must pick up to use again.
Scythe: Super sweep: Sweep the ground in a massive swing to take down multiple opponents.
Trident: Dash stab. Dash forward to impale opponent.
Chain knife: Grapple. Drag in opponent.

    Leader:
Fists: Grab. Grab an opponent and throw.
Brass knuckles: Fist slam. Create shockwave to knock enemies back.
Dual arm blades: Super stab. Quick flurry of stabs.
Axe: Bash. Send the opponent flying into a mess of pieces.

WOW! I love these ideas! I have a bunch of ideas for kill streaks.
