I am curious, how do you fund your collection? especially those of you that get the expensive add-ons, reprolabels, rare figures and unreleased figures before almost anybody else can.

Yes, I am aware you probably work, and get paid, but what is your job? do you have multiple jobs? how do you manage to keep collecting? I ask because I would not mind advice to allow me to collect when I become my own individual.

If this is the improper board for this query, I apologize, please move it to the correct board.

    Let me see here...

I have a trust fund that was set up after my paternal grandma died when I was in the 5th grade, which I normally take anywhere between $5,000-$10,000 at least twice a year in order to help pay my way through college -- tuition and textbooks mostly. I normally deposit that money into my banking account... and then there are times where I can't resist going out and shop for new TFs, yet still manage to have enough money to pay tuition and get my textbooks each semester.

Yeah... I have no job. There really isn't any jobs to be found where I live. Hence why I'm going through college in order to get a degree. Though, if push comes to shove, I might find myself a part-time job (even if it's the most horrible job imaginable) if I wish to make any purchase (not just TFs).

Got a part time job, making a meesly 40$ an hour each shift. Would've been fine if I were working more days, but because I'm in school, I can only work Saturdays.

You remember how in Blade he stole wallets and jewellery off vampires and familiars? Yeah, same thing only with GI Joe collectors.

Basically, I have a budget for entertainment. Included in that is Transformers. So whether or not I buy TFs pretty much depends on whether there's a new must-have DVD box set, if I'm taking a vacation that month, etc.

Of course, that keeps me from buying the more expensive things (i.e. Botcon exclusives, imports, City Commander, etc) for the most part, but generally speaking, I've been pleased with the main lines. I also don't buy every single figure from every line. I've been almost exclusive with Universe/Classics, having only bought toys from other lines that fit in handily with them. Being picky about what you buy is a great way to trim down the TF collecting costs.
