    On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being a 'must get', I'd say a 6.

I wish I had the non target master Kup. I never liked the target masters much.

But despite the ugly gun, plastic tires that should have been metal and rubber, and the missing decal where the gun now mounts, I LOVE G1 Kup. He and HotRod are two of my all time favorites.

I would have loved to see those two get BT or masterpiece treatment using their original vehicles and bot modes as reference.

He's a perfectly fine toy. Nothing wrong in either mode, not particularly fragile that I'm aware of, fairly show accurate in both modes. My only real problem with him is I'm not a fan of the character.

He's OK... as a kid growing up with TF's I was disappointed in the decrease in quality of that line of TF's from the previous lines. But in terms of a representative of the character to go on display? Can't beat him!

    7/10

I think he's pretty decent. Although I can only speak for Targetmaster Kup, he's the only one I own.

I hated the new cast from the 1986 movie for both its rounded limbs, teal & purple colours & finally, the toys which lacked chrome, rubber wheels, intricate mold detail etc.

Looking back at G1 Kup... I guess his altmode makes a fair toy. I'd rate him 5 out of 10, and then I'm being mild/generous.

    I like his character/personality though.

This was really the turning point for Hasbro.

To clarify, many of the characters from line actually were first available with rubber tires. Hot Rod, Kup, Rodimus Prime, Metroplex, ultra Magnus all were initially available with rubber tires and other small niceties only to be reissues not long after with plastic tires and such.

The waves that followed were absolutely half assed, often with downright unidentifiable alt modes that were justified as a continuation of the interesting but more experimental alt modes these guys had.

Didn't have much G1 growing up but I did have (and still do) Kup. Solid TF imo. Always loved that one. Gona go with 10 for 10!

I like him. Just wish his legs had a bit of articulation somewhere, but for the most part back then if a leg didn't have a joint used for transforming then it didn't have a leg joint at all.
But for general animation accuracy and being a solid toy with some character I'd give it a 6/10. The Targetmaster version I'd give a 7/10 just because of the added play value the Nebulan partner brought with it.

I give it a 7 just for the toy and a 9 if you like the character, for me that adds to it. As far as gen 1's go it's one of the better. I was never a fan of the unrealistic sci-fi look of vehicals after the diaclones were gone but this one is decent. Looks good in vehical mode and bot mode and is one of the most show accurate. FYI, there is a rubber tire version that I would recommend above any others.

My non targetmaster Kup has rubber wheels and has tight joints. PM me if your interested.

Sidenote: I also wish there were masterpiece Kups and Hotrods

Maybe I've been too harsh. My final word is 6.5 out of 10. His character a 9.

This should remake this into Universe 3.0

I have the Targetmaster version, but the mold in general isn't that great, IMO. 4/10.
