^ This is what i'm doing...

And any chance to show off my new setup is a good one..

Basically, I went and got a list of all the characters in the movie, and found a decent representation of each. I know my pictures are missing a couple, like Blackout, Bonecrusher, and ROFT Leader Prime, but I got them after I took the picture.

As of right now I'm only missing 2 Decepticons (Brawl and scalpel) and 1 Autobot, Arcee to complete my collection. This is not including the Asian exclusives (soundwave, leadfoot, and que).

Anything that was not an on screen character, I will not keep with my Movie collection (get rid of unless re-purposed)

Megatron was a hard one, I really want the ROTF version but, the TFTM and the DOTM version will do fine until I can find one, it's the only version I don't mind having one from each movie since he was so different in each movie.

Basically, get all your characters together, and then group them up by faction, and then start to swap out the ones you want until you get them the way you want them, store the others. If you find you don't like a version of a character then swap it out for another one you want until you can finally sit back and be like "Damn, now that's a fucking representation of the movie" the only one I want to swap out right now is Jolt with the Electrostatic Jolt. Oh, and a TFTM voyager Ratchet instead of the Specialist Ratchet.

And for gods sake, don't get rid of your Decepticons!

    I wish you good luck!

This, or do what I did and sell all the ones you don't care for and keep the few decent ones like the leader classes and HAs.

As much as I hate that run of toys and want to say the best way was never to start, I don't know why people downsize collections other than a financial emergency.

Because they don't like them anymore and they want more space?

Personally, I'd keep the Leaders and HAs as they are typically the best representations of each character. The Scouts, Deluxes and Voyagers are more expendable, in my view. However, I love DOTM Cyberverse and it was perhaps the best part of the last entire movie line.

Sounds like a great plan according to your taste :)

I've gradually got rid of many Movie TFs, but I just kept the ones I care as a character (or a toy in some cases). Since I am not a big fan of Ratchet, I have no toy of him now except for a FAB one I got for my son, for example.

I would just keep the ha and leaders. Most of my movie toys are the ha on screen characters.

For me its about space and how I feel that if I don't have it on display where I can enjoy seeing it, then its pointless to keep it. I decided years ago that my collection would never grow outside these two bookcases and that I wouldn't keep any figures in storage(the boxes for what I do have take up too much closet space as is). It's my way of keeping a cap on my collecting habits and focusing on what I really like.

I like all these movie figures just fine. However, my collection started out as just Optimus Primes, and he continues to have priority on the display shelves. There are a couple of Primes that I know I'll acquire within the upcoming months, and right now I don't have the room for them thus the Bayformers on the chopping block.

I removed the deluxe dupes last night, and it really did make the display look more cohesive and less noisy. It's a no-brainer to get rid of them. However I'm a little conflicted on which Barricade to keep: the premium or the DotM. The DotM has the better mold, but the premium has Frenzy *and* the interrogator headlights. I bought an Interrigator Barricade just for that accessory and then sold off the figure in a lot. It might be a non-issue anyway because I'm seriously considering dumping all the Decepticons, but I'm taking this in steps.

The HAs are taking up a lot of space and have their own section on the top of the case. I'm thinking about this more and realizing that I don't think the twins deserve such a large representation, and the Wreckers are sadly pretty much non-characters. Next step is taking all the HAs off the top shelf and seeing how I feel about it in a week.

Thanks goodness I don't have to deal with any of the Bay Movie Bots. So far I have "0" figure from this line. As for for downsize, after my 2 bookcases and closet are all taken by my TF figures, I was forced to limited only to G1 or Reissue, Masterpiece Line, and UMagnus Line. Worst scenario, I'm force to sell my Voltrons and Valkyries.

It's an expensive way to collect is all...the constant turnover and low resale value means you're essentially paying over and over for one set of toys.

In parts of my collection, in a way, yes. I look at it as refining that part of my collection, and I wouldn't call the turnover constant. I've come up with some creative ways of resorting my displays to maximize space before trading/selling anything off. A majority of my display shelves are dedicated to Optimus, Megatron and Starscream. Those parts are rarely, if ever, downsized.

I had a shelf for each movie, and damn near every movie toy that came out including repaints. This is what I kept.

I would keep the best iteration of each character.
