we ususally have threads talking about movies in here, but I didn't see anyone talking about these, so I thought I'd see what people had to say about them. I haven't seen any, and was wondering if I needed to try to catch them before they're out of the theaters. I was wondering about:

    1. lucky number slevin

    2. 16 blocks

    3. silent hill

    4. mission impossible 3

The only one I watched was Silent Hill. It was pretty good. A mixture of the first two games. Some nice effects. The story was ok, lots of plot holes and questions if you aren't a gamer. It had a great soundtrack though. Ha, I'd basically suggest it if you play the games, or are a horror fan in general.

I've heard from a number of people (acquaintances, not critics) that MI3 is a decent popcorn flick with good action and neat special effects and I'm planning to see it this weekend (or Da Vinci Code, whichever wins the coin toss). For Silent Hill, reviews I've seen seem to be split into two camps: Those who've played the games love it to death, those who haven't played the games hated it.

    Good question.

16 Blocks is the only movie out of the 4 listed that I'm looking forward to when it hits DVD (and because I like Bruce Willis). As for the rest, they don't interest me at all (I smell hype city for MI3).

Mmm... X-men 3 comes out on the 26th. I'll let you know how that was after I see it.

    My forecasted opinions include:
    1. Kelsey Grammar will blow everyone away in his rendition of Beast.
    2. Colussus' SFX will be horrible
    3. Juggernaught will own you.*

*It depends not on who you are, as Juggernaught will own everyone. He'll keep them on his keychain.

I'm looking forward to Kitty Pryde myself :D

I've been debating seeing Flight 93 in the theaters since a portion of sales is going to the memorial fund.

Thing is I've already seen the re-creation on cable, the movie will have more artistic licence (read: speculation) and it's not exactly something that's gonna be FUN to watch. Still I feel kinda obligated to see it.

    1 Good. Rather contrived though.

2 Pretty good. Not amazing. Really starts to sag torwards the end. The end itself is weak.

3 Good. When you consider it's based on a console/comupter game, it's excellent.

4 Watch the first half hour or so then leave. It's like they wrote the first half of the movie, then cobbled the remainder together in the last five minutes.

Haven't played any SH games, and i liked it.

Only one I caught was Slevin, and that was a bit...odd. Liked how every room was freakishly decorated! ;)  Crazy wallpapers ahoy!

Yep. Part of an attempt to throw the viewer off, along with the backwards double speak.

Tries a bit too hard to be clever.

MI3 is decent but forgettable (aside from PSH, who gives a stellar turn as a villain).

Silent Hill was ok. Better than RE, but that's not saying much (I've never played the game, so don't ask me about faithfulness). The biggest problem I had was with the way the mystery was explained. Essentially it was "Congratulations! You made it this far. Here's the cutscene." This works for games, but not for films.
