So far they aren't
Only words for now.
Don’t threaten me with a good time, Mr. Knight
Anyway, it’s a nice though but he’s still answering to Paramount and Michael Bay is basically playing Jafar in their professional relationship so I’ll believe it when I see it
Nonsense! Jafar has waaay more class as a villain.
This guy did great with Kubo.
But Andrew Stanton did great with Finding Nemo, and then he did John Carter of Mars.
I have faith that this one will be better than the other 5. Of course, I also had faith that 5 would be the best so far, and look where that got me.
On another note, I always felt that John Carter was underrated. I liked it quite a bit.
Except, even tho (maybe) you'll like BB movie, that movie needs a good box office records and good public's words of mouth to bring back TF movies franchise in line
No offense but, i don't think he have a similar level of Bay.
Calling it now, Bumblebee would feel like a mashup between TF1 and gotg
John Carter of Mars was incredible, its just that Disney severely fucked the marketing.
I totally understand the skepticism here but it's a shame that we as fans are so jaded about these movies.
Yes Bay didn't do the best of job on them but the fact that we're distrusting of Knight is plain sad.
Granted I don't know him personally obviously but I REALLY enjoyed his work on Kubo and want to believe that he has good intentions for this movie.
TLK left a bad taste in people's mouths and I get that but I hope that we can all look forward to this movie.
I think this breath of fresh air is exactly what the franchise needs and I believe Knight can deliver that. I'm excited to see this movie.
im genuinely curious how they are gonna handle the transformations...i hope they are not hidden....the bayverse transformations were absolute magic...i dont think they can be topped
john carter is one of the most underrated films ive ever seen...great movie! highly recommend it to those looking for a true modern day star wars film
Bay being a credited producer means nothing. He hasn't even talked about the movie. Chances are he probably wasn't even on set. It's probably strictly a contractual thing.
I really hope this movie is "kino". I think Travis Knight having a fresh new vision is exactly what the franchise needs at this point.
Unite the fandom is a tricky proposition at this point because exactly how does Paramount heal all wounds and thread that needle between what will work for old fans that maybe know too darn much about Transformers and new fans that are just discovering Transformers? Some times it feels like Hasbro has given up any hopes of unite the fans so there is a cartoon and toys for kids, live action movies and toys for the movie fans, and a toy line for us G1 geezers.
As good as Travis Knight was directing Kubo and the Two Strings I don't know if his style will be the thing to unite the fandom. Kubo and the Two Strings ended up being marketed as a kids movie and there is a danger that Paramount could end up marketing Bumblebee as a kids movie. With Robots in Disguise skewing too young for some fans there could be a danger in fans thinking oh this is another project that is young kids only.
It should be interesting to see if Paramount addresses the split in the fandom or if they will just ignore it.
It's not just Hasbro, you could replace Transformers with any other franchise that's 30+ years old it would be the same.
Yep. People see a franchise somehow find that damn near impossible ground of pleasing almost all the different fans and then people think oh the studio just has to wave a magic wand to make everyone happy. It's like we just completely overlook how many franchises are struggling to find that mix that will somehow please almost everyone without leaving an angry part of the fan base. As tough as Transformers has had it imagine poor DC because you have DC fans that want dark, grim, and gritty, while other DC fans are about the fun and jokes side of DC.
I don't think it helps that the internet allows you turn a molehill into a mountain. In ye old days someone upset that Aquaman was wearing the wrong shade of green was just some angry crazy fan hanging out at the comic book shop, now people can organize online protest over the craziest nit picks.
