Might Gaine's post (#1016): How to tell the new KO Reissues apart from authentic toys..

    Three above your deleted post.

Speaking of KOs, I guess they're doing Titans Return deluxes now, which seems sort of odd as these aren't big-ticket, high-money items. I wonder if they're not really KOs but runs of legit toys that failed QC at the factory and got out by "unofficial" means.

Hey everyone, I couldn't locate a thread on this already and I have a question. Is there a Takara LG07 Jetfire Knockoff toy available? I was interested in buying the real deal, but when I went to ebay there are a lot of sellers in China, Japan, and Australia selling the LG07 for around $40 which seems very low. Please let me know if anyone knows whether this is a danger sign. Thanks.

I would like to know this too. I am also seeing the takara jetfire for $30 at overseas online retailers like chimingmung, but I thought he only sells legit toys now? Yes? No?

$40 is about what he cost new. Why (aside from price) do you think it's a KO? That toy was put on clearance a lot of places. It might just be old stock.

He's probably referring to the 7 different listings on eBay from china that price them as low as $40-50 shipped with 8+ available per listing. However, there are other listings from Beijing China that have the figures up for $60+ shipped, as much as other sellers are asking for it from places like Malaysia, the Philippines, or Japan. So he's just trying to figure out if the toy has been knocked off in China or if the Chinese sellers just have their own legit stock to sell.

That's exactly what I was wondering. I didn't want to buy a $40 item if it was a KO.

And that's why we need a resource for these potentially new knock offs. It looks like they are either getting too close to tell apart from the real deal or sellers are using real items for their pics but shipping out fakes. This is a nightmare situation for us collectors. We need proper clarification or else we're gonna get screwed.

The seller "miniyellowcat" on ebay has Huffer, Gears, Tailgate and Windcharger. No packing, they also sell KO's, so presume these are too?

I'm buying one from "zhoooliming" for 40.00. I'll let you guys know what its like compared to an official one from a video review. They have a few figures with no box, and that makes me think he got them from a factory.

In their feedback it shows that he sold a KO figure, and he explicitly stated that it was a KO so I have hope.

Many people couldn't afford to buy either the originals now or the reissues. Also many of the knock offs I doubt will every be released by Hasbro again.

That mold has been KO'ed, but I'm not sure if it has been done in TT Jetfire colors. The one I saw was actually pretty nifty. It was retooled so that the robot mode is Iron Man. I plan on picking it up soon.

Good to see they are still in business since this appears to be our only real outlet for reissues. I hope more are coming.

Anyone got a guide on the Diaclone Swoop. I picked up a loose one on YJA that's in pretty good shape but not mint, but I want to make sure it's not a KO. Since it appears the KO Diaclone version fixed a lot of the issues the KO TF version had, I can't just use the Swoop guide.

You definitely can't use the KO guide for the standard red TF version Swoop KO as the blue one is on a whole different level, he is much higher quality than the regular and a completely different mold. The KO guide above is decent but not really complete - there have been different versions of some of these figures produced over time. I had let him know this a long time ago but he's never really done anything about it. For a long time he had Slag as having gold chrome in the wrong spots as a tell even though the one I bought was a corrected version with the proper chrome colors, and that was like a decade ago. That's just one example.

As for blue Swoop, I have mine in storage at the moment, and while I have never seen a real one I can guess that the real one probably has better chrome (the KO's chrome is very uneven and splotchy and too bright overall). Also at least on my KO the gun missiles don't fit in the wings because they have rounded nubs on the end that don't allow a connection that grips together. I cut off those parts though and he works perfect.

Hope that helps! If you need more I can dig him out. I have to say I really love my KO of blue Swoop, those issues above are the only ones I have and neither is really an issue as the chrome still looks fine, just noticeably different than the standard Dinobots. He and the anime Slag are both comparable to any official reissue.

I honestly don't really know what you're talking about. I checked my guide and it says only early versions have the gold in the wrong spots, so clearly I corrected the error you are describing. I'm happy to put in corrections in the guide whenever anyone offers them...

You did put the correction but it was way after I had given you that one and several others that I can't even remember now over on the AllSpark many years ago. I checked your guide regularly through the years and was surprised at that. I understand running a site like that is not always a top priority so I am not making any claim as to why it wasn't updated, just stating fact. They make changes to the figures over time (I don't know of any packaging changes but that's possible too). I didn't want people to take the guide as gospel on the figures themselves - they should read threads or blogs, etc on these figures whenever possible.
