Hi this weekend I'm goin to mexico, and I want to visit the used toy stores, and to see if I have luck to find a mexican TF. :scalper

How is the best way to tell is a mexican?
The paintjob and the plastic is diferent by touch?

I want to know if there's a way to know with a fast look since genarally the people selling are not very patience and they want to you to decide fast.

See if it smells like spicy beef and beans. If that fails, lick it and see if you get dissentary. Other than that, I'd presume the paint apps and the like would be different than domestic releases. I'm not sure what you mean by the plastic feeling different.

So is the paint hmm. :)

Well about the plastic, I don't know if is the same thing with TF but with ponies the ones made in other contries like mexico the plastic mostly is a lot more shiny with a sticky finish in some countries and other is more duller and genarally the quality looks a lot worse (like a fake figure) in comparation to the ones made for the us.

I'm going to mexico as well this weekend for a vacation. i'll be out for about 10 days. i'd like to know myself. first of all...i need to know if there are any used toy stores where i'll be at....
where are you going sapphire? I'm heading to veracruz.

Also, reissues, do they have a stamp saying takara and the 1984/5 years or the year they were released?

there's that thread in here somewhere, the rare g1 pics and what not. there's a mexican prowl in there with a different app. i think some have different paint apps. such as the red feet for optimus in italy.

To tell the difference between the American and Mexican G1 TFs is to look at the molding and paint applications. There are several websites that show the differences.

    ~ahem guys~

The only mexican variants were released from 84 to 86, with also Sixshot. Other than that, any TF made after that years are simply Hasbro versions with no other changes other than the package (most of the time trilingual)

Even though, all the figures you could find easily would be whats currently on the US (a few waves behind of course)

If you however want to find old figures, your best chance would be flea markets or specialized toy stores (wich arent as common down here, at least not carrying TFs)
