so I've been hitting up ebay recently and won some cool stuff. Unfortunately the seller forgot to the mention that they smoke like chimneys. So now I'm stuck with a bad ass energon megatron, reissue megatron, and alternators shockblast that all reek. So like the title says can anyone give me pointers? I want to maintain the integrity of the figure as much as possible but I just can't stand cigarette. Thanks!

Put them ouside in the shade for a few hours. I read someone who said that works a while back.

    Ebay:
Put them in a box, and put some baking soda in there and close the top. Let it sit for a day.

I had the same problem with some Microman vehicles a few months back. Basically an eBay purchase that was uber cheap ($18 including shipping for 5 sets). All were complete with boxes, instructions, etc. Open up the shipping box and it smelled like he sent me an ashtray instead. I found that if you can air out the figure and the smell goes away in about a 3-5 days without doing anything. If you have the packaging, that is a different story. The boxes still reek but not as bad as when I first got them.

Oh man there is nothing worse then that STENCH when you open up a sought-after TF (or any toy for that matter).

Case in point...I won a Meister off Ebay and the guy stated that it was MIB from a smoke-free home....couldn't have been farther from the truth. I opened the box to fix a door that was askew in the box and the waft of nicotine laden stink that was all over the toy made me want to PUKE.

I called the guy on it and he was cool and refunded me all my $$...claiming he doesn't know how the smell got there since he and his GF 'don't and have never smoked'.

I didn't even think to try to get rid of it myself...I was just so pissed that he lied about the description and probably thought I would never open the box.

...but enough about ME   That baking soda trick would probably solve the problem (dunno if it would TOTALLY disipate the smell but a little at least)

The only toys I got that smell like that came from the UK! Every single time I get something from the UK it smells like that.

Baking soda or get a brand new magic tree and put that in a box with the toy for a day or 2, works for me

I've never tried it on a TF, but Febreze seems to be very effective.

Just airing it works too. Got a loose Alt Sunstreaker which smelt quite strong - a few days out of the shipping box and it was fine!
