I recently bought a G1 Galvatron on Ebay on the cheap, he came in good condition but with horrible sticker wear and very dirty so I want to know what other people use to clean their TFs and get stickers off without without damaging paint and rusting the metal among other worries.

    Ebay:
wash and soak with Dish washing detergent in a large bucket of water.
After that rinse off with the bathroom shower or garden hose.
That will take care of most of the oil, dirt and grime.
Leave it out to dry in the sun or a hairdryer immediately.

Can't a warm hairdryer warp the plastic if you are not careful? I remember losing some lego's to an evil hairdryer when I was I kiddo

i just did this with my ATAT walker from starwars, i used a couple horse hair paint brushes, a tooth brush, and an old white shirt. worked pretty well for getting off the dirt and dust, looks like new now. i suggest that for the dirt/dust.

don't know what to do about the stickers, but i am sure some of the radicons will be able to answer that question.

Use Goo-Gone for the sticker residue, and Nevr-Dull for any rust or tarnish issues.

When I've occasionally run across a soiled figure, I've found a lightly dampened soft-bristled toothbrush and a handkerchief (for drying) takes care of the majority of the problems. I'd see what you can accomplish with just a bit of water before turning to chemicals.

Thanks for the advice. I feel kind of dumb for not thinking of Goo Gone though. I use it on sticker residue at work.

Actually, I do. This person had obsessive compulsive disorder and kept a minute by minute rundown of where Galvatron was at all times. He shipped it with the toy. Galvy's been places...

    Lol.

"10:38:01 am. Galvatron is on my shelf."
"10:38:02 am. Galvatron is suspiciously still on my shelf."
"10:38:03 am. Galvatron still doing nothing. I think he wants me to sell him."

With that logic you should never buy anything used. Besides, most filfth on G1 TF's is just built up grime over the years and layers of dust.

Just keep rubbing it with damp cloth, it will come off eventually.

As far as tools, I have used a toothbrush, q-tips, and a long bristled paint brush for hard to reach places. I used these with warm water and just a tiny tiny tiny amount of dish soap to clean dirt, dust, and oils. Goo-Gone works well for stickers. Also, don't use bleach or Oxy-Clean on your toys. They are oxidizers and they will promote rust on metal parts, screws, and pins. Make sure the toys are completely dry if you are going to store them in a closed space so any moisture does not cause any rust either.

    Ebay:
Isopropyl alcohol wipes (i.e., lense cleaner) and a tooth brush (helps if you cut the bristles short).
