As we all know, TF collecting is not only an awesome hobby...but an expensive one at that.

How often do you people feel you spent a little too much on TFs?

I'd say maybe a couple times a month for me. I will make a rather large purchase to add to my collection and WOW my wallet suffers. Last big purchase was just yesterday, an MP11 Starscream. I don't regret spending what I did however. He's a must for me. But I will have to calm down on buying for another week or two at least.

I normally will buy deluxes and such a few times a month and that is no big deal to me. It's when an MP, rare G1, or 3rd party toy comes along when the financial damage is really noticable.

In a weird way though, it helps keep me going. I feel that I get something more out of working than just "paying the bills".

It is a satisfying hobby and I enjoy every minute of it.

So what about the rest of you? How often do you make a big purchase? How often does it really add up for you?

I make a big purchase maybe 3 times a year so it's not too bad for me, I recover in a fairly quick amount of time.

Not often. Christmas if I'm lucky. Last year, I sold quite a lot of my doubles or triples. That helped.

Hmmm. When I succumb to the "GOTTA HAVE IT NOW" impulse and pre-order deluxes from BBTS at inflated prices only to find the same figures shelfwarming later on :D  (Warpath, I'm looking at you buddy). I'm glad I was able to fight off that instinct for the Wave 2 PRiD Voyagers - got them both at retail for much less than what BBTS would charge (before shipping).

Still - the thrill of opening a new toy is still the same as it was when I was kid. That thrill pretty drives any regret for overpaying out the window :D

Eh, I rarely spend too much on TFs...

...it's my fiancee's Monster High habit that's a problem. :lol

I saw the two news ones at WM. I had to grab it for the wife. There's quite a following with those in our local sightings thread. Daughters, wives, GFs, and yes fiancees.

Oh yeah. I'm cool with it, because I know how much I enjoy collecting TFs, and it's nice to see someone else get that same joy, but goddamn it gets expensive quick.

900 is your average per month?! WOW your collection must be awesome anyway. Thought my habit was a bit high at a couple hundred a month give or take. Why even Maketoys Giant is debatable for me and hard to get despite how much I would love to have it. What expensive goodies have you gotten recently? Mine would be Omega Supreme encore, MP11 Starscream, FE Bulkhead, Primus, Hasbro 20th Optimus, and so on.

So, $10,800 a year? Damn. I only spend on average $60-$120 a month.

I've never dropped anything above retail. Cyberverse aids me in being even thriftier.

I've definitely spent way too much in the last 2 weeks alone:
4 DOTM Mech Tech Deluxe figures at retail ($51.96 before tax), a Junk Lot ($50), another Junk lot ($20), Movie 1 Deluxe Barricade ($13 with shipping), a Nearly complete Devastator ($130),and 3 sets of Reprolabels ($23)

The money I spent on the Reprolabels and the devastator set ALONE set me back the cost of a new Futon Mattress I intended on buying before the month was over, and that's before I pay for $180 Meds in a week and a half, $69 phone service bill autopay, and $200 rent at the beginning of next month. This is why I need to sell that damn MP Rodimus Prime figure I have but don't want.

aaand then Amazon Prime auto-renewwed and there went $79 of my Hard earned paycheck because I forgot to cancel, Screw you, Amazon.com

Wait for the Hasbro one to hit Toys R Us. It's only supposed to be about 100 dollars. Beats the Takara price of 250ish.

Well, the first day the dealer room opened at Botcon this year I dropped $1500 after dropping $500 at the club store the day before, and then spent $1000 the day after. I try to save and just do all my spending at once, although since Botcon, I've still been splurging a bit here & there. But that's soon to stop..
