Without ever having seen one in person or really doing much research, how different will Hasbro's MP Grimlock be from the Japanese MP Grimlock (not the King Grimlock, just MP Grimlock)?

from previous pics and posts, rounded teeth and claws is the main change.
the lack of season 3 accessories.
    but he keeps the crown.

    Now I'm more confused.

Grimlock + gun + sword = happy me. Not being a G1-er, any of that extra stuff doesn't matter.
MP-08 = extra tea party stuff = extra stuff = not so happy
King Grimlock = only an extra crown... But it's almost twice the price of MP-08 and 3x the price of Hasbro's.
Hasbro = crown + safety (not a fan) + less money + I won't have a TRU even remotely near me when it's released = about the same money as MP-08

Screw it. I'm getting MP-08 and I'm gonna like it.

I think you mean gets a crown, not keeps it. MP-08 didn't come with one.

I got it when it was first released. I dont think I would like it with rounded teeth and claws. And I'd STILL need to pay a bundle because its likelihood of it reachus in the UK or me getting one if it is, is practically zero.

As far as I know, Hasbro mp Grimlock will have the gun, the sword, almost the same paint apps as MP-08, plus the crown. Comparing it to Takara's version, the MP-08 has the gun, the sword, and the G1 accessories, but no crown. MP-08X Has the gun, the sword (With orange paint apps), a more comic-accurate paint job, the exclusive crown, but does not come with the G1 accessories.

Considering the rather large price differences between the three of them, the Hasbro version is (Or rather, will be) the best deal; Unless you really want a drink tray, bowtie, and apron for your MP Grimlock.

When I saw a in-box pic of Hasbro MP Grimlock, the teeth didn't look too rounded, so I'm happy. Will they be made of softer plastic as well? (Sorry about not following the news...) I wouldn't mind that, either, I guess he'd be safer to play with.

They likely won't be soft plastic, as they're chromed. I don't think I've seen anyone pull off that trick other than Bandai.

I don't really see the teeth being much of a safety hazard anyways. If you're raking the teeth against your skin with enough force to cut, well, it certainly ain't the toy that's being a safety hazard.

^Gotta agree on your point there, SydY! :D

He'd be more "user friendly" to transform! :lol

I was thinking of dropping him or him simply falling down and chip his teeth :)  My kids are old enough not to feed our pet budgie to a toy T-Rex. (I kid, my sons are angels...I kid again.)

Considering the price, I am warming up to him a lot already!

Why the heck would you need to pull at his teeth or claws to transform him? I agree with Mx. If you bleed from transforming it then its not the toy thats the safety hazard. If you have kids though thats another story.

Sorry this aint aimed at you SydneyY. Just saying in general.

The teeth and claws are BARELY rounded, plus he has extra paint apps. And he DOES come with his sword and gun.

I thought they fixed some clearance issues on the tail as well for when it folds in, in robot mode.

I didn't realize there was an issue with the original release?
