dude, seriously? That just isn't possible. hype alone will bring people in droves opening weekend. just look at some of the other releases this summer.....ie shreck 3. It was a crap sequel of two good movies. essentially nothin original and it still did well....

I would agree with the ' a lot of money ' theory.

Its got massive hype. Sure, Bay detractors and the No-'80s-Toy-Movie brigade will boycott the film, but u can count on fans and more importantly - families and the casual moviegoer - to turn up. Media hype and visibility of the film is huge and you bet kids will show up by the droves. The Japanese market is a massive one too.

Put it simply: robot fans are a guarantee. And the others have been thoroughly impressed by the CGI.

And let's not forget Bay and Spielberg's track record.

This movie will prevent pirates 3 from coming anywhere near the second one, and it will get a lot of money on opening night (7/2), and a steady amount of money from then until 7/13 when OP comes out and makes a gazillion dollars due to the fact that it looks really awesome in the trailers and the book comes out the week after.

So ten days of freedom, (unless Ratatouille is really strong (will probably be the lowest grossing Pixar film in a while) or even Die Hard does well), at at least 3-5 million on the lowest days, and 35+ on the highest, gives this film a ten day gross from $140 to $180, possibly more, though it won't be front loaded like Spidey because its first day of full release is a tuesday, though it is a holiday the next day.

That was the box-office analyst trying to take over my brain, i have now usurped control of me.

Aye, Transformers has the family factor, but in the same way that Pirates has the family factor.

For a 3 day box office take (Friday to Sunday), I would say $115 million domestic. The first Spider-Man movie did those kinda numbers.

But considering it comes out on a Monday, its gonne be a BIG first weekend take
