According to BBTS, it was originally $140. Although, if you're planning on selling, they still have a few in stock, on clearance, so I'd recommend the waiting game.
I don't exactly remember this stuff too much, so don't quote me on this one.

I had it preordered for months before its release, I paid $134.95 + shipping, Aug 2009.

This was never a retail item in Japan. It was a mail order item that could only be obtained by getting the mail away card from the Transformers Generations Vol. 3 collectors magazine in Japan.

Thanks. Nah, I don't want to buy, I'm just trying to help a friend decide whether or not to buy for $90-something on amazon.com. Seems like a decent price I guess.

IMHO, anything mail-away is pretty boss either way. :D

Actually, the one on amazon right now IS from BBTS... just through amazon instead of direct. Same exact price.

It wasn't mail-away for free. You still had to purchase it. But you had to buy the book first and then mail in the form with money AND have a japanese address so the retail price of it isn't a good litmus. (i.e. the retail price of Henkei Skywarp & Thundercracker was from the stores was <$35 but by the time it went through all the channels it cost me $70 shipped and that was a good price).

I picked up that set for $50 BIN on eBay a couple months ago - if you're patient, you can get it for less than $90. Great set!
