    Film TFs can program their bodies natural functions to generate weapons as they need them.

    That's where his axe came from.

    the axe and others (swords hooks etc) are all probably just spare energon he can use into weapons. one thing i wanna know is HOW THE HELL DO THEY NEVER RUN OUT OF AMMO?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

    In the novel, Wheeljack does upgrade Prime & build his trailer, as well as update and tinker with the other 'bots, improving them. Hence the reason why Ironhide no longer has the Popeye arms, Sideswipe has bandito-style flip-out pistols, and Prime no longer has the swords anchored to his wrist. Doesn't explain why the decepticons now use guns too rather than form weapons out of bodyparts. Megatron's shotgun, while nifty looking, is nothing compared to the crab claw gun of death seen in ROTF.

    Weapons can't be energon, since it's seen in ROTF that the hooks are steel-colored until they light up orange. They are solid physical weapons, and not pure energy. My guess is the energy is an activated "coating" allowing the weapons to easily cut thru the cybertronian's natural force field. As for infinite bullets? Same way a kid never runs outta boogers.

    it telescopes and folds, as you've seen the axe is no more tham a few inches thick.
