I wanna here it....
Probably a small fortune.
Oh $2000 plus, easy. I don't even have to work it out.
Over $2000. Easy! Lol. Shit I have a $1000 POL going on right now. Lol.
I know its over $2000 already. I shudder to think about much the number will actually be....
judging by my bbts order history, I spend approx. $1200 a year on tfs, and I've been collecting since 2002.
Stopped keeping track after the 1st grand. That was yeeeeeears ago n im a johny come lately. Im sure for most old timeys here its towards 5 figure region.
Well...if I add up everything I've collected.....oh god no....I don't want to think about it.
Not very much, haven't gotten many transformers recently.
Easly over 2g cause of all the TF's I have.
On easily collectable stuff (main line figures), probably around $1800 tops.
It's the big ticket items that have killed me. You know:
Brave Maximus I bought for an obscene amount when it came out.
SHBM Galvatron (1997 Botcon, White Label) I bought for like $140 in 2002.
Micron Legend Starscream, Galaxy Force Starscream, United Hound, and many other examples of buying the superior Takara deco rather than the gaudy or sloppy Hasbro one (Henkei Ratchet is next on my list for this treatment).
ON THE PLUS SIDE though, I've assembled a near complete G1 Fortress Maximus for probably less than $100. I bought a decent condition, easily fixable 60% complete body for about $40 in 2004, and have for about 7 years carefully and diligently looked at Ebay lots parts and snagged components for dirt cheap. Would you believe I got a perfect condition Cerebros in a lots part by an unknowning seller for about $7.50? Got half an ultra magnus, a Scorponok body, and some odds and ends in that too! So maybe I saved money there. Still have to get Spike though.
So in total, probably ~$3500. But it is really the big ticket items and the ridiculous Classics 3.0 price gouging that is driving up prices now. No, I don't want Rumble and Frenzy so badly to pay $110 for a pair of Scouts.
Easily $2000+. not even going think about adding it up.
I don't have my whole collection with me at the mo, so I can't give a proper estimate. The irony is that if I sold everything, I'd be able to get that new computer I've been wanting for the last decade. But you know, you can't have everything.
ive easily spent 3-4k a year(on transformers alone)..and ive been seriously collecting since 98...if i were to add up the macross/robotech/marvel legends/dc classics/comic figs and busts i have it would top 50k without giving it a second thought....
I just got back into collecting in 2006 with the classics line, so I voted in the $1,500 - $2,000 range, but as I got to figuring in MP figures and the hole that Generations/RtS put in my bank account in the last few months, I'm probably well over the $2,000 mark.
I have over 1000 figures. They are generally Deluxe class, though i do have lots of more exquisite pieces, ranging from TFC and Masterpiece to Henkei and other cool Asia-only stuff. I'd say on average, $45 a piece.
So that's $45000. Bearing in mind i got into this series as a kid at about 7, and i'm going on 17 now, that's 10 years worth of collecting, with extremely conservative values, NOT including kitbashing related expenses.
Yes, i am spoilt. Shut up.
EDIT: Whaddaya mean it's not a competition?!?!?!
I don't wanna know how much I spent on tfs so far.
Been a month since I stopped smoking. I've wanted to quit for a while and it wasn't easy. When someone posted the idea of how much cigs cost vs. transformers I think something clicked in my head and my addiction to transformers became greater then one of the biggest addictions in the world.
No matter how much I spend on transformers in a year, it's still less then what I spent on cigs
