It's priceless. Seriously, that's its value to me. I have it insured for a specific amount, but I wouldn't share that anymore that I'd talk about how much I make (well, if I worked instead of going to school).

I can't imagine how much work it would take to replace it, and many of my pieces have specific nostalgia value in addition to being a mold, character, or series I like.

Agreed, I've been at this for 25 years! I can't imagine how much I've spent, or how much work it would be to rebuild...(Mine is insured as well :)  ). To me it's a priceless and very personal part of the last 2/3 of my life...

It's difficult to pin-point a specific cost. To me, like most of the others who have posted so far, it is priceless. If I were to put a dollar amount on what I have spent to get it all, we are talking somewhere in the vicinity of of about 7-8000 dollars probably. That could be an exaggeration or an undestatement, I am really not sure which.

worth in terms of how much i spent? how much i could sell it all for? or how much would it hurt me if i lost it all suddenly? i spent more than enough. maybe a few hundred i could get. the thought of losing it is very painful.

It's pretty difficult, I know pretty much what I had spent on figures, but my oddities, some our just priceless. And some are so rare that if I was too lose them, it would take me years to find them all again.

I'd imagine not as much as most of us might think. My collection is freaking enormous, but I'd imagine that the vintage Japanese G1 in box is about the only thing that would be worth serious coin (outside of the uber-rare non-production pieces).

I actually keep a file of every Transformer I bought and how much I paid for it, but I dont have the full price tallied at the bottom. Besides, the full price wouldnt be the actual worth. Some would be worth more, others would be worth much less

I guess most people consider their collection priceless. A lot more goes into it than just money... time and enthusiasm... the hunting... yeah, my collection is priceless to me.

That and I'd hate to actually ever sit down and figure out how much money I've spent over the past five or more years since RID came out and I started getting into TFs again. I figured it out once... about two years ago... and I nearly fainted...

Priceless and maybe more. I would shudder to try and calculate the money involved in Transformers since 1985. Only Tak-Tom has made a dent in my desire to acuire more. I passed on MP Screamer because of the color and QC issues. I only bent on Kiss Play for Kremzeek, and now things like the Nike Transformers are really giving me pause. I had to call it quits on TF statues. I'm just happy that I like so much of just about everything else.

I keep all of my receipts, and I add them up as I go.

    (1984 - 2007)
    1,701 figures plus merchandise = $29,290.00.

That is the actually amount I paid for them, but they are worth so much more.

What I want to know is what people will do with their collections once they pass on. I have a long time before I go, but I think I'd sell them all off and give the money to my children unless they wanted to keep the toys.
