This has probably been asked numerous times before, but over the years how much money have you spent on Transformers in you collection? Assuming MSRP, eBay costs, Japanese, American or whatever, what do you think is the total?

My collection numbers around 300 pieces, no statues or any of that garbage (JMO), just Transformers themselves, and I have spent roughly $4,200 since 1997 when I got back into collecting (I sold all of my originals from the 80's when my first daughter was born to pay rent and buy groceries). That's just under $500/year. $4,200 is a lot of dough for some folks, but I really haven't felt it spread out as it has been over the years.

    How's about y'all?

Yeah, me too… I average around $500-$600 a year since I restarted collecting, even though I swore not to collect anymore. I'd rather look at it as $50 monthly increments. I guess it's money that could've easily went elsewhere, when you look at it that way…
    Wait a minute…
Huge sale!!! ALL MY TF's MUST GO!!!

    Yeah, right…

It's probably in the low thousands, as 20 Alternators alone is $400. It's kind of scary especially since I'm not a hardcore collector.

Way too much. I have a sickness, you see...if I see something I want on the shelf (or online), I immediately buy it; bills, rent, food be damned. I am a plastic crack addict, instant gratification is my motto.

When a line is going strong and getting news figs out, I'll probably spend around $100 a month on it, plus another $100 a month online for other asst. figs.

I need to slow down, if only to let my shelf space catch up, which it isn't.

An awful lot. I've been collecting for 20 or so years, getting the odd few here and there. These last few years especially have been big, what with getting all of Brave. I've been warned not to put a figure to it or I'll get depressed!

I think the real question should be...How much gas money have you spent looking for Transformers?

Thinking about it I spend a lot more than I ever should for someone without a job. I'd say close to $700 - $1000 a year (rough guesstimate at $20 a week for 52 weeks).

I started back in RID (only got the car brothers but have since obtained more) Got a lot of Aramada (until all the rapinst started - then I was dumb to TFs really until I found this site) Got most of Energon and have gotten most of Cybertron as well. I have 23/24 alts available at this time. I don't really get stuff on ebay much since I don't really like to more than retail for a toy.

There are gaps where I'll go weeks at a time without anything or just get a basic/delux for the week but I'd say its closer to the $1000 end since I've gotten every leader and Supreme since Armada except Black Unicron and E/Cyb Galvatrons.

While what I have spent surely pales in comparison to what others have, I prefer not to think about it. I did a count once for the first year I was back into collecting and totaled around 800.00, after that I stopped looking.

Well if you look on ebay at descent G1 figures you are looking to spend an average of $80 each. MIB will be even more. It's an expensive hobby.

Ditto here. I was frightened enough trying to figure out the "how much did you spend on toys in the last week/month/year" questions in the Hasbro survey at the last OTFCC.
