How much do you think the movie will make? Let's try opening week amounts, too. When it comes out, I'll update the thread and announce a winner.

July 4th is on a Wednesday, so "opening weekend" is from Wednesday to Sunday.
I predict $150 million during that time period. $280 million gross domestic.

no movie has ever made $150 million on a weekend. I predict around $100 million the first weekend and maybe around $350mil domestic gross. Probably close to $800mil worldwide.

I think Transformers will make about $80-90 million from the standard Friday thru Sunday frame, and about $110-120 million for the five days combined. Based on these estimated numbers, it could make $250 million total domestically. Worldwide, maybe $500 million. Of course, I could be way off.

Probably similar numbers to the likes of Fantastic Four and Batman Begins, meaning about $300 million worldwide. It will do well, but I very much doubt its going to compete with this summers heavy-hitters. This movie is definitely not for everyone.

    We've heard budget guesses from $150 M - $300 M. I believe the actual figure lies around the $150 M mark.

I don't think it'll cross the $100 M mark on it's opening weekend. Well, maybe just.

While I think it will do VERY well (maybe $100 million opening 5 days) it certainly will not break the record (Pirates 2 @ $135.6 million).

Take into account the earnings from overseas sales, then $100 million is easy.

Yeah, I think they're just talking about the standard US domestic weekend box office - it's the big number that most people judge the success of a film on.

Gonna go with really conservative numbers.

*Domestic: $250m (i.e. until it falls off the top 10 charts)
*Worldwide: it's anyone's guess, depends on how foreign audiences takes to the themes... which is pretty darn hard to predict.

They said the budget was around $150m, which means it'll probably total over $200m including the marketing ($50m being about average for blockbusters). Transformers will make it's money back in the theatres and DvDs (regular & the collector's edition *plez*) will be pure proffit.

Trackers don't usually add in international earnings for Box Office numbers so a $100m opening weekend would have to be done domestically.

judging by die hard 4's crappy new trailer, transformers should be number 1 on its first week. i guess around $110 million in its first week in the US.
