I wholeheartedly agree with this post. I myself love certain cars from every company. It's the quality, performance, and overall value of a car that attract me to it. The world would be a better place if anyone that's ANTI-FORD or ANTI-CHEVY took a look around and examined the cars, not the name. Just because you had a shitty ford tempo back in the 80's doesn't mean ALL of ford's lineup is bad. the fact that imports are being hit bad is a sad state of afffairs too. I wanted to cry when I heard all the projects that Honda canned due to economic troubles. New NSX...global RWD platform...F1 racing... Shitsux.
Despite being a Ford owner, one of the only things I don't like about Fords (and other "American-made" cars) is how they [don't] hold equity value. The key word in there for my opinion is "only".
It's hard to be optimistic when I've got rolling layoffs all year, and trying to pay for a divorce and a house at the same time.
I've had 2 myself. Both of them were POS's. A '84 F-150 and a '90 Bronco II. The best I've had was a '91 Silverado and a '71 Roadrunner. I don't like most new cars today due to front and All Wheel Drives. I learned how to drive with rear wheel drive vehicles and I prefer them. A 4x4 is fun off road, but they suck on a hardtop road. I'd like to get the new Camero that's suppose to be out this fall, but that looks to be a dream if GM goes bankrupt. Too bad. I bet it'd have given the Mustang a run for it's money.
Have a 2003 Ford Focus I just finished paying off this month. I've only ever owned Fords andd still miss my old Thunderbird.
I never had a problem with Fords. I love them. My 2 favourite cars that I've owned were a 76 Ford Torino and a 94 Crown Vic Police Interceptor.
I like Fords. My first car was an 83 Fiesta. At the mo i'm driving a company car 05 Mondeo. But if money was no object, an Escort Cosworth or an RS200 (Not an RS2000)
Since I started driving back in the early 19th century I've had a Tempo, Ranger, another Ranger and currently on a Focus. The engine fell out of the Tempo, which was probably my fault since I was 17. The first Ranger died a horrible death on an icy road through no fault of its own (I still miss that truck!). The second Ranger was a lease and was 100% problem-free for the two years I had it. The Focus is a 2000 and I bought it used in 2003. The only problem so far was the fan motor went out and had to be replaced. Other than that it's been an all-around excellent car. I'm no brand loyalist though. All cars and car makers have the capacity for lemons. It's all luck of the draw as far as I'm concerned.
I just remembered I briefly had a Ford Probe in high school too. I don't remember much about it, other than my parents having to get rid of it because the insurance was so high. Their insurance person told them it was on account of the Probe being considered a sports car. Yeah, real sports cars those Probes.
Same platform as the old MX-6. Difference, MX-6 looked and was built better. Used to have a 1980 Ford Van that was made into a show van. Only probem we ever had with it was when my bro left the park brake on and still kept driving and split the Dirveshaft in half. Any other problems I wouldn't remember, was like 1 when my parents made it.
