I know I know, Dreamwave leaves a odd bitter taste in the mouth, but without a better term, I'll call them that. So how many DW book reissues were there?

I ask because I have 0 (Convoy) through to 12 (Minibots). From my search I 'think' Takara only produced a few more, with Blitzwing being the last in that format.

Is this right? Because if it is I'm going to hunt down the rest, just to have a complete book collection.

Dude, you can call simply call them "book reissues"...especially since DW is like a bad word to some fans! LOL!

And yeah, Blaster was officially the last book reissue. I wished Takara would give us a Thundercracker, Skywarp and Trailbreaker for that particular reissue series.

16, 17 and 18 are the real pricers of what you need. Everything else is manageable for the wallet.

Also, it's not a "Dreamwave book reissue" series. The official name is "Transformers Collection".

And only about half of them actually USED Dreamwave art. The other half (Starscream, Tracks, Skids and several others) had entirely new artwork drawn by Hirofumi Ichikawa, who never in his life worked for Dreamwave.

What is it that makes 16, 17, and 18 so expensive? Were they just low production runs, or just very popular?

I'd guess the Insecticons and Soundblaster were popular, but I have no idea why Blitzwing goes for so much.

I dunno why everyone always says that, because IDW, and Don Murphy's art for that matter, is the same hunched over, balloony, always reaching forward, immobile kind of Transformer art with joints that "clip" that we've been getting since forever :p  I'm not saying its better or worse, but its not like "Dreamwave style" is dead.

You can find loose, complete G1 Blitzwings for $30 or so, while the reissue cannot be had MIB for twice that.

Why TFC Blitzwing goes for the crazy prices that he does I do not know, he's not even that great a toy.

    I got the following:

    #1 - Jazz
    #4 - Tracks
#6 - Megatron (With Energon Mace)
#9 - Starscream (Anime with Megatron Gun)
    #10 - Soundwave with Lazerbeak
    #14 - Hound
    #17 - Blitzwing
#18 - Soundblaster with Ravage and Buzzsaw (Cassettes with Fortress Maximus Sticker)

Still kicking myself for not getting the Hot Rod, Insecticons, and Minicons when I had the chance. I may sell the TRU exclusive Soundwave reissue later so I can have the money to buy some of the bookstyle reissues.

Its not the Dreamwave art I disliked, after all, Don Figueroa did stuff for DW, its the way DW folded and 'SUPERSTAR' Pat Lee handled everything that left the bitter aftertaste.

I realized they're called Transformers collection, Transformers Dreamwave only hits comics on eBay... yeah, I'm gonna slowly build up this entire collection of uh, Transformers Collection. But slowly and cheaply.

    Slowly slowly catchee monkey.

From what I remember reading, Blitzwing had a relatively short run in the TFC series.

Soundblaster (and Soundwave before him) was a classic case of how wrong the typical transfan know-it-all naysayer's demand equation can be. "There's not enough demand to ever justify a reissue. Also the molds are at the bottom of the ocean. Or in space!" Of course, Takara goes and not only finds a working mold (or most of one), but reproduces a toy that sells out almost immediately in all _four_ subsequent releases. The same people are busily trying to debunk an Encore Grimlock now for much the same reasons and they'll be just as wrong this time too.

Insecticons, anyone's guess. They're lackluster toys that I expected to see clearanced.
