Ok, I've seen lots of Transformer toys that have not been released yet on ebay so many times through out the years. Yet lots of people buy them for hundreds of dollars. I've never done this in my life, but as of a few hours ago I tried just this once and I won one on Ebay (I'm not going to mention which one I bought). I figure many people are crazy enough to buy a Transformer in advance for hundreds.

So how many of you are crazy enough?

Sorry, I would tell, but that would be letting out personal info. The only ones who will know are my collector friends at home and at my nearby collector store. But I'll only give you a hint: a DOTM toy.

wait. I think it's ridiculous to pay many times the retail just to get it a few weeks/months early.

    Probably because

    A) you didn't actually win a stolen chinese toy and are just pretending you are

    or

    B) trying to figure out if there are others who regularly do this kind of thing so you don't feel stupid for buying a toy that will be at retail in a few months.

Either way it's amazingly stupid to actually buy toys for multiple times their worth if they're going to hit conventional retail unless you're a reviewer like Peaugh or EmGo. Trading off lots of money (which would buy you a few nice, at retail figures) simply to have ONE figure a few months in advance is only wasting money for a figure that will loose value when it hits retail. Oh, and if it turns out you don't like the figure, there isn't a return policy you can use, so you loose money that way, too.

Let me just say When I saw others bidding for these they were like $300 to $450. And that up to 10 bidders, trust me I've read most of the names of who bids for the same items.

I could never see myself spending way over the amount of what something is worth if it's going to be a retail item that everyone can get. I can't really judge anyone though because everyone has a diffrent perpestive of value towards diffrent things then someone else may.

I could see why but I just cant bring myself to do it. We all place our own value on things.

Atleast I'm doing myself a favor.

Usually I buy all three Leader Class from each line. Now I'm only buying one, leaving lots of money for anything. Because I ain't buying Leader Class Bumblebee and Leader Class Ironhide.

Uh-huh. And the fact Ebay has now implimented a system where you can't see who else is bidding on the item, but a letter and a number, factors into that...how?

And your logic is still fail because you would save even MORE money by NOT buying the toy months in advance for five times its retail value.

Hmmmm... I have a spare $200 - $300 to spend, Should I buy... A) A stolen figure that will lose nearly all of its value 6 months down the line? or B) A vintage G1 that will hold its value indefinitely? Geez, That's a tough decision... :lol

    2 things:

1- Why would you care if someone knew your ebay name, unless your shady. Like selling stuff at scalpers prices or selling KOs as originals. Do you think some one is going to stalk you to outbid you?

If your so concerned about privacy, you shouldn't be on the forum in the first place.

2- If you like to be the first kid on the block, enjoy the extra money you spent. I for one think it's not worth it. I don't even pay $17 for a deluxe early.

The way it works, if you have money to burn, then you can spend what ever you want. If you don't you may be pissed if you have no money to buy not devastator in a couple of months.

I can wait. I don't see why people spend $500 on a TF just so they can say they had it first when if you wait a few weeks, you can buy it retail for $10 to $50 depending on the size class.
