I've just recently fallen in love with the ALT OP mold (for anyone except OP). My problem is...I now have Trailbreaker, Ironhide, Nem. Prime, Ratchet, and plans for Hoist, Grapple and Inferno all from the Prime SRT mold.

Does this seem like too many variations of the same mold? Problem is, to me it is the only mold that seems to fit these characters and Hasbro gave us only so much to work with.

they're your customs and those are all fitting for those charachters, as long as you enjoy them, that's what matters most.

I'd have to agree that we only have very limited Alt molds to work with. But that's what reshelling is for.

    :)

If you think the molds fits and works well, then the possibilities are endless. If I had the talent id have Scrapmetals in 10+ colors.

Bingo. Besides, it's not like I wouldn't buy as many repaints of the G1 or Classics seeker mold that Hastak releases...

This auction may be for you then:

    40 x Alternators Optimus Prime: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180147153825

Challenge: re-create the G1 Transformers lineup using only the Alternators Optimus Prime mold. That is, Bumblebee: Dodge Ram, Swoop: Dodge Ram, Laserbeak: Dodge Ram, Reflector: Dodge Ram, Jetfire: Dodge Ram, etc, etc.

    =)

to each his own, and you are right, only prime's mold fits all those tfs you mentioned that you want to make. as long as you can get em, and enjoy the end result, i dont see anything wrong with it.

My Ratchet is 95% finished. I'll post pics when I'm done. I think you're gonna like it. I made my Skids into Huffer.

this is why I've only stuck with characters sharing the same alternators mold if they shared it in g1. so in my book of custom alts, I've got

    rx8-jazz and stepper
    impreza-prowl, silverstreak, and smokescreen
    ram-trailbreaker and hoist
    rsx-nightbeat and minerva

    That's a smashing idea.

I think you should create all the Minibots using Skids. :thumb

Ratchet should be a Jeep, Ironhide should be a Scion. All the others work though, but I think Trailbreaker could be pulled off as a Jeep seeing as how he was originally going to be one.

IMO, for something like Optimus Prime, I would think anymore then 4 is too much

    1 to keep in box
1 to display in truck mode
    1 for robot mode
1 for combined mode (if there is one)

customs are different story, All the ones you have, they're all different characters, and really aren't the "same" toy in a sense
