I thoroughly hope that those of you that don't believe in more than three dimensions aren't in any way involved in science or engineering fields.

Millions I think. We (humans) are very limited organisms.

I like those too, but a tesseract was already a representation of four-dimensional geometry long before those books were written.

Don't forget Earth-3 where TFW2005 is a Transformers hate site.

Oh I know. But I thought that it's probably something that more of us relate to.

You're speaking of time dialation correct? I see that as one of the laws of motion. Every action has an equal and opisite reaction. Beings (or what ever) move slower in a fast movie object.

My own personal term for this is a Sphere of movement. Not a really apropriate term, but it works for me. When a collection of objects move together they share the same rules (or reality) of movement. Like say walking around on a Jet Plane, or walking around on solid ground. If you just stand there, you have the illusion of being still and not moving. While infact you are moving a great deal. Moving in the Spere Of Movement (SOM) of the plane, inside the SOM of the earth rotation, the orbit of earth around the sun, inside the SOM of the rotation of the Milky Way Galaxy, and yet still the forward movement of our Galaxy. All of these forces of movement slow us down.

It has become the general thinking that time is it's self a force of nature. As real as matter. Something that can be over come. Lets talk about what that would mean. If something as silly as backwards time travel was to some how be reality it would mean....

    1. Some where within the force of time, there is a recorded history of every single movement of the entire universe. It's own sort of memory.

    2. you'd have to stop the movement of every single thing in the universe and force it to reverse it's self along that memory line. Fallowing the exact same path, only in reverse.

Because of our ability to record things, history, then photographs, audio, and then motion pictures.... we have somehow gotten into our heads that time is a real force of nature. When it's only just that, a record of movement.

Time is simply the measure of all the objects moving in existance, that proceed through the dead still of space.

Do you think time travel is possible?

Imo, I don't think it is, at least not in the way it's shown in the movie. If you were to travel in time, you would have to "reappear" at the exact same spot, only at a different. What if there's a tree there? A building? Another human? A mountain? A glacier? You're done. I think I read somewhere that they could make particles "travel" in time, but to the human scale, I don't think it will ever be possible.

NOW you're getting it. Though, in Cowboy Universe, it's not unusual for schoolmarms to be smoking hot. In fact, all women in Cowboy Universe are either smoking hot schoolmarms or old grannies.

Time travel is clearly possible. We are all currently traveling forward in time as it is, so there you have it.

Well, presumably all of us. Some people here do seem to be stuck in 1984.

Three spatial dimensions (plus time) are all you really need for engineering these days. Actually, I'd be suspicious of anyone whose designs required a fourth spatial dimension.

How were you planning on accessing that, Ops? Lighting candles, slaughtering an innocent and chanting Ia Ia Cthulhu Fthagn? It probably works but not on an industrial scale.
