From another thread I got a bit curious and wanted a rough estimate (that's all it can be) and I wanted to know how many adult (over 18 and with their own source of income) there are here. That is people who buy new HASBRO toys first hand (no ebay or second hand markets).

You lookers and non posters vote too.

Yes. I have no issues correcting the employees when they say "your son is going to love these."

"No he won't. Those are mine."

Since I'm going to be 18 next month, I went ahead and voted "Yes," considering I don't see my collecting habit slowing down any time soon. As for collecting other lines, I have a HUGE want list of figures from past lines I need to hunt down...eventually.

I buy both Star Wars and Transformers from retail. But I spend more money online though.

I do. Nobody has ever questioned why I buy toys either.

I vote to move the delineating age of being a "Adult" to AT LEAST 30.

That's no good. I'll be 30 next year. I don't want to be an adult yet.

What about those of us over 18 who get the new retail stuff AND chase down old lines?

My curiosity is more an interest to see how relevant the adult collecting market is in terms of sales and trends. So one is not exclusive to the other as far as what lines. I get the occasional voyager and g1 based legends because the main lines either don't interest me as for design or because of lack of solid distribution to make getting a whole waves line as easy as walking into the store and finding all the waves release.

Yes, but I bought my first Transformer since 1987 last summer when my son started getting interested in Transformers.

I would disagree! I am about to turn twenty-five, and I am far more responsible than my thirty-two-year-old brother!

I am over 18 and my main collection is a dead line, Transformers Animated.

Prime didn't impress me, but for someone that didn't like the Prime toys I had all the first PRID Deluxe wave. So probably as a PRID no-collector I buy more than most childs or parents.

I am collecting Prime Cyberverse :D

But I guess that any survey done here in TFW2005 isn't a good survey. Most of the public here are over-18 collectors.

I love the thrill of the hunt and finding new shit at retail. Especially when said new shit is on sale :D

I'm 36 and have been buying from retail stores since Beast Wars so since I was 20 :O, the internet was barely around back then lol

34, been buying TF's since the start of G1. Still have no problem marching my way to the toy aisle and looking through the transformers while kids and their parents dig through it as well.

I'm 32. Been collecting since I got my drivers license and first job in '96. I have very few figures from second-hand/online sources. Nearly my entire collection was purchased at retail when they were first released. I seem to be in an area where there aren't many collectors or scalpers, as I have a fairly easy time finding new figures around here.

I like how everyone on this forum is 18 or older like me.
