So I got an email today from ebay saying it was my 5th year anniversary with them. And since I had signed up to buy the first transformer that launched me into collecting as an adult (MIB G1 Prime), it coincides as being my 5th year anniversary as a collector.

How about you, how long have you been collecting Transformers?

You mean the first, second, or third time?

The first I was a kid then eventually my mom threw them all out.

The second was around 1998 or so until 2003/2004 - Polar claw was the one I saw that made me want go check the stores. Beast Machines and Armada(maybe Animated) were coming out (from what I remember) and I had a lot of dislike for those lines, still do to this day...but because of them, I stopped collecting. Managed to pickup re-issue, PM Optimus, ultra magnus, rodimus, and starscream then was told NO OTHERS will be made, period... so it was the nail that the other line put in the coffin..

The third was this past Christmas (2011) I got a couple of DOTM big guys to kick start me again.. This time I still had all of mine from the second time...then I found this site... and it was over.. I found out they lied about the re-issues and now I have added about 100 TFs since Christmas including classics line..

Dabbled here and there throughout the Unicron Trilogy and even Classics. I held onto and displayed my few Classics figures though, and even bought Henkei Megatron at a convention in Spring '08. Noticed Sunsteaker and Prowl at a store one day and realized they had a new line of G1 characters like Classics. Did some Google-ing, found Peaugh's reviews, which led me to this site, and boom- spent $250 that month catching up on Classics I missed back in '06.

My join date is literally when I decided to go full bore into collecting TFs.

May of 2000, a few days before my graduation from high school. I went with my girlfriend at the time to a vintage shop looking for 80's gear but found an insecticon instead.

I had some BW figures already but shrapnel was my first jump back into the vintage game.

My closest reboot was in 2009; this website threw my back into the fire lol

:lol  I wish I could say the same...but my childhood wasn't really filled with TF stuff.. :(
I'd say that Car Robots started the ball rolling in igniting my interest after so many years.. so yeah and the TFC book collection renewed my interest/ passion for G1's.

Never stopped, but the way I collect have gone through various phases. As a kid I "collected" ie I wanted my mom to buy transformers for me.

As a very young adult I bought beast wars stuff - opened it, transformed it a couple of times then put it in a plastic bag. This was also when I bought my first MOSC G1 (and opened them)

During Armada I started displaying stuff in a cabinet, rarely transforming it more than once or twice, keeping instructions and inserts in a seoarate bag.

About 5 years ago I started to keep the packaging and begun collecting MIB stuff.

About 2 years ago I started collecting MISB/MOSC stuff, never opening them.

The Alternator/Binaltech craziness started in 2007. I decided to expand in 2008.

2012 is probably the worst. Expanded a little more. Turd party craptastic plastic at the price of a Diecast Binaltech toy. How low can you get?

Seriously collecting, around 3 years, give or take a few months. Almost coincided with my joining TFW2005 and Cybertron Philippines. :D

Started in 1984 and stopped a few years later because girls became more important than toys :p  Then in 1998, I discovered Beast Wars and have been hard core collecting ever since :D , but I had skipped most of the Unicron Trilogy lines until recently and have dabbled in some of those as well.

I started w/ ROTF and only collected movie figures. I have now expanded to have a very large classics collection also.

A long time ago in a galaxy far away. And when I say galaxy, I mean city, and when I say far away, I mean a few miles away in Alhambra where I used to live.
