Because everybody uses it. Yeah, don't deny it, I've seen you use it once or twice.

I've only been around a few months, and it seemed to be in full swing when I started prowling around on the toy forums. I was just wondering when it gained popularity.

Also, for you HISSTANK and Thundercats users, is it used there too? Is it used on Seibertron? Or is it exclusive to TFW?

I've also heard "cardboard crack" been used in relation to Yugioh/MTG/Pokemon cards, but definitely not as frequently.

I've spent more money on Transformers than I have on crack...

Then again I guess that isn't saying much. I HAVE gotten transformers for free after all...

I believe it originates with the Warhammer community, given that the very nature of that property is to acquire more and more to build an army. I've only observed it spreading out to Transformers in... say, the last three years? And it's very definitely not a widely used term in TF fandom outside of a forum or two.

It's most certainly used in the realm of Joe collectors and I imagine Thundercats as well though I can't recall ever hearing it on that site. I think it's just a general term given to the addictive nature of toy collecting and thusly is used rather broadly.
