Let's for example take the tv show.

Did it ever state as to how long the BW lasted?

I think the OP is referring to in-show length... in which case its never actually stated.

I don't think they ever say but it would seem that it would be maybe 2 - 3 years total. Just guessing, season 1 felt like it lasted 1 - 2 years, season 2 maybe 6 - 12 months and season 3 no more than 6 months. :)

Yeah, that is what I meant: How long? Maybe months, years?

I was always uncertain when it was set. I know the comics said circa 70,000 years ago but the Optimal Optimus line of "we'd have 4 million years to clean you off the walls" kind of throws me.

I realise given the various animals, it's not 4 million years ago but then why did Optimus say that.

The obvious answer would be that for Optimus, the time the Ark spent in stasis, 4 million years, is known history and he pulled it out of his ass in a tense situation instead of bothering to remember exactly where in time they are in relation to the Ark's crash.

70,000 years would also be in error, however, because homo sapiens sapiens (aka modern man) was around by then, not earlier anthropoids and archaic homo sapiens species (such as Neanderthals) that later gave rise to homo sapiens sapiens, and to which the anthropoids in the show clearly belong. Not that I expect TF comic writers to have researched that at all...

Maybe these guys were the last of the primitive humans. Right after the Beast Warriors left a troop of modern men with better tools marched in and slaughtered them all...

Except that then the whole plot of Code of Hero would have been moot.

I always figured that the hominids that we see were Australopithecines due to their general hight as compared to the Maximals.

As far as how long they awere on primitive Earth, I'd say at least 3 years but no more than 5.

    Or increcibly funny!

Dinobot (in the Transformers afterlife) "I died to protect the humans and history from Megatron"
Angelbot "Actually the humans lived in the next valley, you save a bunch of monkeys."
    Dinobot (headslap) "Doh!"
