Back in '07 during Tf1 there were two scenes that might be a reason I like Tf1 over ROTF, and it was during the robots screen intros.

The first one was Optimus introducing himself along with his Autobots to Sam and Mikaela.
The Decepticons also got introduced some way, as well as Megatron claiming his name before he transformed and dashed his way out. :bay
That short scene with Bonecrusher saying: "Bonecrusher rolling!" or:
; "Barricade in route!" were nothing far from awesome.

This might seem unimportant, but to me it adds more excitement and a closeness to the real stars of the story, I mean the movie is titled; "Transformers".

Since ROTF was lacking this, would you like more of this in DOTM, for both Autobots and Decepticons??

No. its better to start the films with the new Bots Already on Earth. Cause for the first film i see reasons to introduce the bots but for Sequels i dont see any reason

It would be nice if we got some introductions to add development to the new characters. Sideswipe basically got none of that in the ROTF, the only time he was spoken to was when given an order which left him with little dialog. Same story with the Arcee twins. I'd hope in this one, the new characters will spend time discussing themselves.

YES, YES, YES!!!!!!!!!! We need intros for the new bots on both sides, that was one of the major elements(aside from storyline) lacking in ROTF....I went into the film(ROTF) expecting awesome intros of guys like Sideswipe, etc...... they cant just throw these guys into the film and intro them in the prequel graphic novel........

no robots introducing themselves is stupid...it takes screen time...from epic fight scenes...we can figure out the bad guys and the good guys anyway...plus if they are going to be there and dead in like 2 minutes (ROTF demolisher)....it is a waste to "get introduced" anyway....

New characters need an explanation/introduction otherwise the audience will be confused, "Where did that guy come from?"

Sideswipe had an alright introduction, showing his badass skating. The Twins were established as goofy ghetto Autobots. Arcee was shown as three motorcycles. Jolt appeared out of nowhere since he was a last minute addition. But Sideswipe, Arcee and the Twins were somewhat explained when Galloway talked about how they came to Earth when Prime sent his message.

It's really crap storytelling if the new characters aren't introduced without even a one-liner.

It'll be alright if the new Autobots and Decepticons are already on Earth, but with at least one line explaining their prescence. Or do another Decepticon roll call, since Bay Decepticons don't have character and just identify their name... rarely. Anyway, a one-liner about the Autobots' prescence, and a roll call of the Decepticons' names will be fine.

I loved the intros last movie. "Bring in Sideswipe!" Oh, and Ironhide, and how could I ever forget Prime's jaw-dropping entrance.

yeah those were not bad, even if a human calls out a name It at least let's the audience distinguish bots a bit.
Although I would have preferred Optimus calling out the shots most of the time., I will be happy if this is the case in TF3.

Unfortunately that would've spoiled the surprise of Optimus' own intro.

Depends on what you mean by intriduced. Do you mean introduced like Optimus did in the first movie "This is Ironhide my weapons specialist, my medical advisor, Ratchet." etc or do you mean introductions as in backstory. Where they came from, and the stuff that was generally lacking in ROTF. I always love backstory but I don't necessarily need someone to say "this is Joe Bob, this is Mary Sue Ellen", etc. Know what I mean?

Ok I see, but no, I don't mean specifically how for instance Optimus telling us; "oh, and btw this is HotRod", no.

But rather before battles or chases, IDK creative you know? Oh and backstories can work too because not introducing a character at all in a story is a bit morbid.

The only returning character that I feel needs to make a grand entrance is Prime. I do like a lot of the intros, though - Screamer's first transformation and Megs' thawing were great, as was the group shot of all the Autobots in the first movie. Sideswipe's entrance was my favorite in ROTF - shame that's pretty much all he got.

Every good movie has it's own authentic scenes and parts, which characterise those movies. Every Ghostbusters film has had a huge being walking through town in the form of the Staypuft Marshallow Man and the Statue of Liberty. Every BTTF movie has the Delorean. And so on and so on. Characterisation is necessary to create believable personas, and therefore the introduction scenes in TF1 were awesome. TF2 missed this chance, and it's a bad choice. Introducing new Transformers can make for great scenes!! So yes, TF3 should have transformer introduction scenes!

The introductions in the films have been good. The problem is that if you aren't Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, or Starscream nothing much happens with your character after the introduction. Kind of seems like the Decepticons get some bad ass entry only to end up ineffective for the rest of the film and just waiting to get killed. Autobots tend to be forgotten about after they are introduced.

Intros would be welcome, for me anyway. Maybe not a five minute intro for every single character, but at least have the characters NAMED for the audience. RotF did alright in that regard with:
    -"Arcees, get ready to launch."
-"Arcee, Twins, target coming your way!"
    -"Bring in Sideswipe!"
-"Autobot Twins, report to hangar three.", etc.

Heck, even Ironhide was mentioned by name. ("Alright, Ironhide, we've got echoes. We're close.") Would've been nice to have Ratchet in that scene too, but whatever.

Overall, I think the Shanghai sequence did pretty good with keeping the intros short, yet obvious enough for the audience, without making the sequence solely about introducing new characters. The scene was kept moving for the most part without stopping for "Oh, and this is so-and-so, they're (insert Autobot profession here)." They could've also had another little intro scene at the NEST base with Galloway and the new Autobots; similar to the first movie, but obviously with the new 'bots instead.

I'm really looking forward to not only having potential character/personality introductions, but physical introductions - like, transforming.

Optimus Prime and Bumblebee always seem to have a large, fancy, awesome transforming introduction...
    Transformers (2007)
    -Bumblebee facing off against Barricade
    -Prime in the alleyway

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)
-Prime dropping out of the C-17
    -Bumblebee in the Witwicky backyard

And they also seem to have another big, opening transformation for us, (Blackout in the first movie, Ironhide in RotF). So it'll be interesting to see how Prime and 'Bee are transformed-intro'd in DotM, and who will be the first on-screen transformation. :)  I'm so excited!

In conclusion, at a minimum, I just hope that they have the Autobots named on-screen for the audience's sake. Even something like Optimus ordering: "Twins, Bumblebee, follow Ratchet's lead. Wheeljack, Hot Rod*, you're with me." or saying "Wheeljack, do you have the coordinates?", "Silverbolt, escort Simmons to the drop-zone." or whatever. Just don't leave the audience guessing who's who!

(Or whoever the new characters will be.)

    -Tyler :)

I think the role call was actually really cool it adds a little bit of importance to the characters even if they did die with in minutes.
