how far would $500 go if i were trying to get a fortress maximus?
This may be a stupid question to ask but i'm going to have close to $500 in cash after the holidays and would like to get one.

what condition do you want? $500 would get you an incomplete or a yellow Fort Max no problem. If you want Minty you may want to consider a Brave Max reissue

 

you won't get a complete one unless your very lucky or it its very yellowed and even then id be surprised if it went as low as $500.

if i had to guessitmate id say you would get the core bot minus most if not all its parts and maybe Cerebros. Not much more than that unless your very lucky.

If Brave max will work for you, there is a more reasonable chance of you getting a complete one.

 

well, I'd like a G1... As i recall, the brave max doesn't have all the cool bits that Fortress does.

 

you are correct, but all those bits add up and make pulling together a fort max an expensive proposition.

I would say find any and all the fort max on ebay that interest you, bid 500 on them until you get one. (Not all at once of course, cause you may end up winning a couple and not be able to pay.)

 

It's funny I just did a search on ebay for it as well but I searched for Fortress Maximus.....those prices...my lord!!

I got mine for $500 a few years ago, but I'm not surety if that would work for him now or not.

  very true and yet some collectors will pay it. I want one of that mold so when i am ready i willt arget the brave maximus as the more wallet friendly option.

 

I'm probably going to go with the brave maximus. After looking around, it does seem the better option, even if I miss out on cog and the like.

After seeing an auction just end for 940 USD on a fort max, i like my odds for the brave.

Are there any mold problems differences between the two?

 

darkov...who is a member of this boards...makes reproduction parts...and has both the rifle and hand gun for brave maximus as available parts that he can make...and his parts that he casts are superb in quality and condition....another route you could take...

Damn those prices are nuts... not just Fortress but Brave as well. I got lucky on mine... a few years back I traded a mint/complete Metroplex for a Brave Maximus. Then earlier this year I traded that same Brave Maximus for a cherry-fresh Fortress Maximus. The Fort Max was slated to be recolored into Brave Maximus and have major articulation added to it. I said, "Instead of repainting him to look like Brave, how about ya just take mine in exchange?" Brave Maximus was just a placeholder until I got a Fortress, and surely enough the trade happened instantly. Well.. I did have to drive home and get it, but yeah - I went back two days later and BLAM! Fort Max for Brave Max.

Don't give up hope, you'll get him soon enough! Also.. reproduction parts will be your best friend when it comes to completing a Maximus. Darkov@here can help you with those.

But he is correct you could get lucky but unless you have an indoor flea market near you, for most of the country its the wrong time of the year for them.
