I'm just curious as to how far everyone drives to work. I've been offered a job, but it's a 90 minute drive, and I'm not quite sure it it's worth it with gas prices as high as they are.

90 minutes each way? Ouch man, that's harsh. If this is a short-term thing then I guess you could put up with it for a bit, but more than a few months of doing that is going to take its toll on you.

I drive 15 minutes each way, but have to do it 4 times a day as we have siesta here. Bit crap really, but whatchya gonna do?

25 minutes with no traffic, not too bad but its still a killer when you drive a v8.

It would be full time, permanent, or as permanent as a job can be, but it would only be $8.00 per hour.

It takes the missus 5 mins to drive us both to work (yay for both working for the same company, boo for still not having my own license yet), and 15mins for I to walk back. My home is just over a mile from where I work.

What's the mileage on your car like? I have no idea about gas prices in the US right now, but that sounds like you'd be spending a hell of a lot each week on transport and with a wage that low, it doesn't sound like the type of job you can claim expenses on...

I don't mean to sound rude, but if the closest McDonald's is 90 minutes away, try some place else. For 8/hour, you'd be burning most of that in commute... Just using rough figures, your first and last hour would be to get you there, another hour or 2 go to the gov't, meaning you would pocket a whopping $35 a day (assuming 8 hour days)... Factor in lunch, you're out more money... Factor in the whole "Do you value your time commuting?" and you're paying to work.

If you can find something better or don't really need a job, then don't take it. If not, take it and you can always change when you find something better down the line. A job that is far away is better than no job at all.

Don't worry about the fuel. That just sounds like a waste of your life. Is it 90 minutes each way? That's 3 hours a day! That you're neither enjoying or being paid for.

It will add up to weeks of your life just sitting in traffic.

Wow, I seriously thought the title read "How do you drive to work?" For which my answer would be, "by car silly!"

    5-10 minutes, down a main road1
