I think it's assumed he stays alive all the way through G1 and hides out on cybertron during BW until BM or something.

As I recall, the early humans built a catapault and launched Waspinator into outer space. Somehow he got back to Cybertron, where Megatron extracted his spark and put it into Thrust's body.

They were not cooking Inferno, just using his thrusters to cook chicken.

Waspinator treated the humans poorly, so they chased him away and launched him high enough so he could fly into space and (four million plus years latter) made it back to Cybertron, where he was captured by Megatron and had his spark stolen, reprogrammed and placed in storage to be latter used as Thrust's spark in an attempt to dispose of the Maximals.

And was reformatted into a wasp with Thust's head.

Sounds about right. That was one of those things that was kind of glossed over as far as the story went. It was just a cool plot twist to have Thrust be Waspinator instead of Silverbolt

*reminds me that I still need to watch that beautiful TV show Beast Machines on my nice new 58" HDTV. I have always thought that show looked amazing and I really want to see what it looks like in HD (my DVD player up-scales so it is near HD for those wondering)*

Pardon my complete Beat Wars/Beast Machines ignorance, but it this G1 Thrust people are talking about? The conehead seeker? Or is this a different character?

I just assumed the 'took forever but way worth it' was an exaggeration on Waspinator's part, like the rest of this explanation. He also said he got bored and left, even though the protohumans begged him to stay. Another suggestion is that Megatron rode the transwarp hole back to earth after breaking free of the Maximal ship, and brought Waspinator back to Cybertron with him. That's pretty farfetched, but I guess no moreso than Waspinator somehow able to travel through space millions of lightyears away on his own without powering down. Plus, if Megatron was able to get Waspinator, why not grab Inferno as well since he was as loyal as you could get...yeah he supposedly killed him and Quickstrike but it's not like the Maxmals and Predacons hadn't been chopped up worse but survived. Anyway these are just stupid fan ideas anyway, I suppose the real answer was never thought of. "Eh, they won't notice."

Inferno and Quickstrike where dead though. I know it's inconsistant, but there are points in Beast Wars where death meant death. Maybe Waspinator just has an immortal spark or something.

As for how he got to cybertron, who knows. It's possible that when he was flung into space he went though some worm hole, or maybe he was able to open a transwarp conduit left by one of the ships. Who knows what happened really. It's one of those things that doesn't really mater. All you really need to know is that Waspinator wasn't on Earth during G1 and that his being left on Earth doesn't affect continuity.

He was on Earth during part of G1, for a tiny moment of the More Than Meets The Eye part 1, between the Ark crashing and the volcano going off ;)

Maybe his spark became immortal when SS posessed him?

    well

Well did'nt Megatron essentially have the matrix? Would'nt this allow him access to sparks from anytime/place?

Megatron never held the physical Matrix, nor did he have the spiritual one.

The closest he came to having the Matrix was when he deciphered the Oracle, which is something else entirely.

Also, though one can contact sparks via the Matrix, it can't teleport them.

Another good question is how the hell did beast machines start? How did megatron get so much power? and why he hated beasts all of a sodden, when in beast wars he just cared for power?

Beast Machines started when Megatron broke free from the his bonds on the shuttle. Since transwarp apprently goes through time and space, he landed in cybertrons past. It couldn't have been too far in the past though as he didn't try to stop the beast wars from happening or anything. How he actually did all this is anyone's guess. Maybe he used some knowledge of the future to do something. Maybe he was able to develope that virus of his covertly and just took over once everyone was stuck in alt mode.

The Wreckers comic fills a lot of that in. He arrived a few years before the maximals. He has Cryotek help him develop the virus and then turns it on Cryotek. The Virus he spread across cybertron and used it to take over when no one was able to resist him. Then he used his vehicons to hunt down survivors.
