Just wondering if anybody here knew how TRU's restocking system worked.

At one of the TRU's near me they've been showing 4 MP Hot Rods in their systems since last Friday through today but the employees say they do not have any. In the case where low order items go missing (people hiding, employee theft) but the computer still thinks it has items in the store does that mean that the store will NEVER restock?

Not TRU specific, but most retailers do a quarterly inventory check (physically confirming stock of everything on shelves and in the back) specifically to address issues like this. I'm sure TRU would do the same.

Does anybody know when TRU usually does physical inventory checks?

Unfortunately if MP Rodimus ends up being in short supply (and he may be easy to find- we just don't know yet), a quarterly inventory won't necessarily be timed well enough to allow them to restock while the toy is still available.

I would say bring it to the attention of the store manager, if you havnt. If its indeed a case of employee theft, Id sincerely hope that problem gets addressed and rectified. Maybe they can reorder too ? If stores even do it on an independent basis

January for sure. Don't know if it's a once a year thing or quarterly or something in between.

Can anybody who works for TRU provide some insight as to whether this is a real fear?

I was told by a TRU employee that sometimes the stock listed for the store includes the the truck they are getting that week. The employee I talked to was very nice and helpful. She had another employee search for MP Rodimus, but could not find one. She even tried to order MP Rodimus but the system would not let her.

The employees show us the screen. They had a separate section for in-transit. Iono.

They tried to order more also but the system wouldn't let them because the listing was removed from the website.

This is how my local Toys R Us does inventory checking:

Worker 1: There's toys on the pegs. We are good.
Worker 2: But....it's all old. I don't see anything recent.
Worker 1: I said, there is shit on the pegs....we're good.

    This seems about right!

TRU doesn't seem to have a well organized system at all. I was just in my local TRU on Sunday and they didn't have any MP Rodys and told me I was lucky to have got one at a different store because they were not expecting any for at least 2 weeks. Now today, a board memeber stopped by the same store and they had 3. How is that possible? Their truck doesn't come until Thusday.

Here's how it works from my observations:

    1. Stock items on pegs according to planogram
    2. Track items as they are sold by wave, price point and class
    3. Feed data into restock system to automatically restock items based on demand
    4. Restock System orders seventeen cases of deluxe Skids

I give kudos to TRU's computer system because I can never use a coupon or do an exchange/return without the employee getting manager to come and override something from the computer.

On topic, at least in the past, I remember exclusives such as Beast Wars 10th Anni 2-pack kept piling up to the roof, week by week. Unless something changed I say TRU's restocking system is unstable and unpredictable.
