    Foundation # 4 and the Novel prologue shows Starscream and his bunch chasing the Ark and it blows on Cybertron's skies.

    It was presumed destroyed. But actually ended somewhere else eventually crashing on the moon as we've seen in the trailer.

    How does that work? Did the Ark fake its destruction space bridging out?

    No. Starscream damaged it too heavily for the ark to move itself physically so it basically was sent into a drift through space until it plowed into the moon.
