I think they are going to try this out for a good five years.

It might sound corny but that’s the sort of ish I would expect them to pull.

That's what I hope for. If they make it eventually go away, fine, that's to be expected in comics. However, I'd like them to see make an honest effort to keep this change permanent.

And I like Cast's idea for Ben Reilly. If they do bring him back (utterly unlikely), they need to have him try to forge his own life. That's the main thing that drew me to the character in the first place.

Oh, and get JM DeMathesis(sp?) to write it.

I'm guessing two, tops... with House of M they couldn't wait to start picking at the scab of "where the powers went to" and this isn't likely to be different.

I'm sure it will have something to do with the dual suits Spider-man's using these days. Also... I'm fairly certain that Mary Jane is going to die during Civil War as a direct result of Spider-man going public, which Peter will hold Iron Man responsible for.

As for the "reset"... I'm sure there will be some utterly miserable out for it all. Just remember that Spiderman fought Doc Ock recently with his mask off in front of everyone. Let's see them sweep that under the rug.

God... Iron Man so takes the cake for biggest dick in comics. Last year was Batman, but this year is Iron Man by miles.

    Hypertime.

No, seriously. A divergent reality identical to 616, except for the fact that Spider-Man didn't reveal his identity intersects with 616 again. This merging of the realities causes a permanent change in the timeline, making Spider-Man's identity secret again.

The sad thing is I actually researched Hypertime to write this explanation.

But to be perfectly honest, I want Marvel to actually make this stick.

It would be nice if they actually stuck with it that long, but I have a feeling the ID will be secret again by the time the new movie is released, just so the comics and films sync up.

I honestly don't see how they can resolve this without reality alterations. Inducing amnesia (somehow) isn't going erase all the videos showing Spider-Man unmasked or the print records. Having some other hero pose as Spider-Man and fight Parker doesn't seem like it would be that effective either, as that's such an obvious ploy to cover up a secret identity that I can't see it convincing the vast majority of the Marvel Universe that Parker isn't really Spider-Man.

Maybe have Scarlett Witch punch at reality. I believe it worked for someone else.

I think will stick for a while seeing as if you want your Spidey with a mask you can read ultimate Spidey. I can forsee that the Iron Spidey outfit will be done with soon and Parker won't even go back to the original but a new maskless costume

I'd like to see it stick, and not try to ret-con it out, or come up with some other lame idea to make his identity secret again.
