Do you splay your figures with or without missiles. I used to display mine with the missiles until I thought about the structural integrity of the spring inside. Now, I display without. I'm curious to know how everyone else splay theirs?

    It's a mixed bag here. Some I do, some I don't.

Aside from the Seekers, without. Less so because of the springs, but because of how projectiles typically look.

Without, I don't want them to accidentally go off and lose the missile's. I keep the missile's in a plastic bin with my comics.

With, springs disengaged. Don't want them losing whatever strength Hasbro was allowed to give them.

If the missile looks more like fire or plasma comnig out of the gun, I usually leave it off.

Is splay supposed to be short for display or something? Because splay means something entirely different.

And conjures up...unusual images when discussing Transformers toys.

Lol! More discussion on the word than the topic. I just said "splay" because it's how Vangelus says it on his reviews. Makes me laugh. I thought people on here would get it. BTW, I do keep my missiles in on my Seekers. That is a must.

Same here. It also makes me feel better knowing where they are.

For me it depends on how the figure look with them. The G1 Seekers have them, but the Armada Seekers don't.

    No that would be "spay."....

Some of my toys to tend to end up "splayed" out over time by the force of gravity, but I rarely splay them by choice.

Words mean things. Even if Vangelus willing disregards those meanings. And actually there's this handy language convention called an apostorphe, which you can use to indicate that you're intentionally chopping off a few letters:

"How do you 'splay your missiles" might have given us a fighting chance ;)

    As for missile-storage:

For years I very carefully made sure that the springs were never engaged, and would sometimes leave the missiles partly-in the barrel (but non compressed) if they looked cool.

Lately I find I care much less about long-term-spring life, and more about losing parts. Even WITH a firing gimmick, I lose my missles a lot less often if they're in their launchers. I usually prefer the look with them in as well.

  18. Without or dis-engaged to save the life of the springs.

I don't want to lose them.
