depends on where the cockroaches are?

My dislike is a function of distance.

When the distance between me and said cockroach decreases, the hate increases in a non-linear, exponential rate.

German roaches: Home-invading, disgusting, disease carrying vermin that must be obliterated from the face of the earth.

Woods/Smokybrown/American/Australian/Cuban/Brownbanded roaches: occasional domestic invaders that provide a valuable ecological service in the breakdown of plant debris.

Gonna have to be more specific.

Since you're in Queensland, you probably have a lot of Australian roaches. In that case, they make excellent pets.

Well obviously you've never taken the time to really get to know any roaches.

There are plenty of people who make pets out of a specific type of Roach. They're like the super huge ones that you don't normally find around homes, but apparently they're super friendly and curious lil' buggers.

As for me, I treat them like any other non-spider bug. If you're in my house, I will squish you, if you're outside, I got no beef with you.

Also, wtf at the most random nature of this topic.
