I just use winamp when Im at my computer, which is really easy to load, and ITunes for my ipod. If Im in my car, its either my ipod, the radio, or a mix CD I burned.

Alphabetically by Artist... I've found it the easiest.

I just do it alphabetically. its easier then trying to group stuff based on what type of music it is.

i make main folders for Artists...A-C, D-F, etc etc...

or if i make a CD or iPOD playlist, i make a copy/folder with the music too...i have A LOT of space on my hard drive so it dont bother me having duplicates of songs.

The CD thing i do more as thats my work music and seems like the CDs at work tend to get scratched a lot.

    Hell yeah!

Anyway, don't have an ipod or itunes, but I organize music on my computer by genre, then alphabetically

I organize CDs by genre as well, and when I have multiple CDs by one artist I arrange them by release date

My iTunes library is sorted using "Album by Year". Using that sort option, iTunes sorts all the artists alphabetically and then if I have more than one album by an artist it puts their albums in order of release by year. I like this much better than any other sorting I've tried, but it is admittedly reliant on having good, accurate, complete ID3 tags.

I've ripped my entire CD collection now.

I have them sorted alphabetically by artist first. Then inside each artists folder, it's sorted by album year (oldest to newest).

Just did it the old fashioned way, manually.

I had 10,000 songs on my computer when I lost my hard drive. What i've done is burned everything to MP3 discs has a back up.
