Inspired by the collection completion threads...

How do you keep track of your collection?
    Do you have checklists?

Here's what I do. I make a checklist in Microsoft Excel for lines of interest.
Each toyline has it's own "sheet". The checklist doesn't include every figure in the line.
It's customized based on what I want to get from a specific line.

    What do you do? :)

Excel sheet tracking by character (based on how I rearrange stuff in my collection), line, mold, Hasbro vs Takara, and Autobot vs Decepticon.

    I also use Shmax too.

I use a couple pivot tables in Excel. One to keep track of my purchases by month/year (which I could expand and see what I bought and when), and another worksheet to keep track of how many figures I have in each toyline.

Ezcel Spreadsheet. makes it really easy to keep track of. I tried using Shmax but it was taking WAY too long.

I typed up a list in Microsoft Word listing all the TFs I have, but sadly I have not been good at updating it each time I get a new addition.

I've thought of doing something very creative in regards to how I keep track of all the toys I have... I thought of taking pics of each toy, type up information on each toy, and put it all in a scrapbook. But I haven't gotten far with that project.

Does an app exist that you can use to monitor your Transformer collection?

lol, I hadn't used any form of tracking my collection, but some guys on cybertron.ca are beta testing a new website that does exactly that! It seems really cool so that is currently what I am using(also, I have nothing to do with the site and therefore didn't mention the name since it's in beta, but have a look for yourself)

I make a checklist in Excel, then back it up to Evernote and Google Docs. Just have to make sure that I update it every week.

I currently do not have an inventory of my collection. I use an excel document to keep track of purchases (started it two years ago) but I want to actually categorize my collection soon.

    I look at mine.

All of my Transformers are out on display on shelves in my study.

    Word documents.

    I'm strange about it.

One doc per series. 32 in all. each file name has the number of figures within at the end, and then these are grouped into folders (like unicron trilogy) with the numbers of the files within added up and included in the title. So my Unicron Trilogy folder has "Armada - 78", "Cybertron 41" and "Energon 58", and the folder itself is "Unicron Trilogy - 177".

I also count every minicon as a unique transformer, even if it came in a 3 pack or with a larger figure, but in the lists themselves they're included with the set they came in.

It's a horrible system, and I'm sure there are much better, and easier ways to track everything, but I'm dumb.

I used to have a really comprehensive Excel spreadsheet with a different tab for each line and lower and upper values for each item and notes about them etc. Then my hard drive died a couple of months ago and I lost the whole thing.
I haven't got the will to go and start all over again from scratch, so I might give Shmax a try, although from what I've seen, it is a fairly long-winded process to enter even one item into it.

It's all in my head. I loosely keep figures from similar lines in similar storage boxes, i.e., Henkei/United box, Fansproject/3rd party box, Botcon box, TFCC box, etc.
