I'm sorry if this question sounds stupid guys, but I'm playing this on PC, and using my PS3 controller, and have no idea how to crouch and lean against walls like I see my computer partners doing all the time. The only controls it will display are for keyboard, so I'm effin lost.

    Any help would be appreciated.

You can't. The AI can and does, but the player actually has no way to do so.

    It's weird.

Hey, thanks for answering that. That sucks, because it would've made the game a lot more "Gears"'ish, lol, but I'm glad to have an answer bc I literally pressed every button 20 times over trying to find out.

Yeah, its weird that they didn't implement a dedicated cover system. I remember everybody thought there would be one, too, on account of the reveal trailer having Bumblebee duck behind transforming cover.

    Maybe in WFC2?

The cover mechanic should be implemented in WFC2, but only to compliment the gameplay. Don't make it like Gears of War, where you have to take cover or you most likely will die within moments.

I wouldn't want it to be core gameplay like Gears, I just want to be able to DO it.

Agreed. I was playing Escalation last night (Forget the map name. The Autobot one where it's underground and there's Energon waterfalls and rivers everywhere) and I was by myself on wave 12 and was getting swarmed by jets, Brutes, Titans, Cloakers, Shotgunners, the works. Protip: Standing behind a waist-high railing will not protect you from gunfire.

I still beat the wave, though.

Still, a cover mechanic would be great for moments like that.

Just looking at the trailer, temporary cover-zones that stay up for a few seconds, and deployable bridges would add a lot more strategy to the game.

I take cover behind objects all the time.

I call it standing in the right spot. : )

    I can even duck too.

I call it transforming into a really short car.

I think the main reason HMS had the AI partners do the whole lean and duck thing was to visually cue the player that the AI was ready to move on and point him in the right direction. There is a lot more to game design than a player may ever consciously realize.

Thank god crouching isn't available for people to use. I don't want to get teabagged in multiplayer. No thanks.

    >Deleting a useful gameplay feature because you can't handle something as silly as teabagging of all things

    Nice

I vehemently do not want a cover mechanic. The game doesn't need a specific mechanic for it.

Crouching though would be nice, especially with walls low enough that you could use them for cover.

I didn't say I can't handle it. I shouldn't have said what I did but nevertheless, teabagging is annoying. Oh well. Crouching would be nice though, now that you mention it. In Left 4 Dead, it greatly improves your accuracy. I haven't noticed any difference in Halo though.

Indeed. If they're not gonna put a complete cover mechanic, the least they could do is add a crouch. The only crouch we have right now is a 5-second transformation to vehicle mode. :lol

Crouching in Reach reduces reticle bloom, making your weapons more accurate.

They should just have Pat Lee do the designs for WFC2. Then everyone's default standing position will be KNEE-BUCKLING POWER SQUAT

I'd like to be able to crouch behind walls and stuff. It can be annoying not knowing and getting a few shots a few seconds later because the cover isn't big enough for you.

However, cover is definitely available in some places. It is a huge part of the soldier's strategy, because they rely more on their powerful weaponry more than any other class. The other classes can either boost their defenses(Leader warcry) or speeding over to an enemy to get in close (Scout and Scientist vehicle modes), but if a player is so far away that getting into melee range would be suicide, get behind cover and unload the Scrapmaker on their aft.

Old school crouching like in real shooters is ok with me, but no cover system. Cover systems are stupid.
