I have just got into collecting Transformers again. I collected some when the first movie came out, but sold them all. I have since started collecting the Human Alliance stuff and a Leader Ironhide, cause of his scale to the HA Autobots.

What i was wondering is, do you guys collect one size of each character or do you like to collect each character as they would scale next to each other.

For example, using the movie Autobots as reference.

Leader Optimus Prime, Sentinel Prime, Jetfire
    Voyager Ironhide and Ratchet
Deluxe Skids, Mudflap, Sideswipe, Jolt, Jazz

    How do you collect?

It used to be, I would just collect whatever Transformers I find in stores.

These days, I'm being more selective by just buying the characters -- mostly on-screen ones, but I do pick up the occasional non-screen character -- that I like, regardless of their class size.

Space being a limitation, I keep it to the WST and MP line's. Nothing more, nothing less.

This is pretty much what I do. I've been focusing on my movie collection, but I want to start getting some more Classics and Generations. By the way, good idea putting Leader Ironhide with the Human Alliance figures!

I buy most of the movie toys.
I don't buy the small Legends / Legion size bec. they usually don't have elbows and knees.
I don't buy most of the Commander size bec. most of these have voyagers or leaders.
I try to avoid the repaints unless the repaint uses the name of a different character.
I sometimes buy repaints if I like the new weapons.
Bad designs I avoid such as the Ultimate Optimus.
I usually skip the out of scale figures like the Walmart deluxe Optimus.
It is ok for me to buy 2 sizes of the same character.
Some out of scale sizes are good for display like Ultimate Bumblebee, Battle Ops Bumblebee and Leader Bumblebee.
Hasbro does not really maintain good scale for the toys so you can only roughly get in scale toys.
I also bought the Fast Action Battlers bec. I also liked them.
In TF1, Frenzy was available only as Fast Action Battler.
For TF2, to get Overload, Scrapper and Hightower, I bought the oversized Legends Devastator from kotoys.com and they made it larger like scout size. I hate Legends size.

Thanks, cant take the credit though, i saw a youtube review of the Leader Ironhide and he compared the scale to the Human Alliance figures and Leader Prime to Leader IH, looks perfect to me. Just waiting for Hasbro to release a leader Ratchet now.

I tend to go for molds. If I like something, I'll get it. Unless I'm getting it for absurdly cheap.

if i had a man-cave, i'd go alt mode(s) and bot mode plus MISB but my space is limited. i only have a man-corner in a houseful of three beautiful females.

    HAs (no basics)
movie leaders (movie wise i find the deluxes too fugly)
    alt and bt
    MP
    classics (any size)
    TFA (dlx, voyager leader)
    G1

i try my best to have a scale perfect display.

"Depends" is probably the de facto answer.

For Movie, I get the core Autobots as scaled closely as possible. The only thing we're really missing for this to happen now is a Leader/New Larger Voyager Ratchet.

For the Cons I let it slide a little more, and just get what I like.

In general I try not to get more than one version of a character per line, and repaints typically only if it's a new character.

I collect Classics and only Classics. I don't care what line they're under or what ungodly acronym is being used for them, Classics all the way!

I'm terribly impulsive, so I just buy what I can.

Which tends to just be toys that appeal to me.

Generally, I get one figure per character, with some attempt at scale (i.e. Movie Legends Barricade, Deluxe Brawl and Bonecrusher, Voyager Blackout and his Scorponok, etc.). Sometimes I'll get two versions of a character, either to replace the older one or "scale be damned, this toy is too awesome", though I try to keep that to a minimum.

I don't worry about scale for non-show guys who only get one toy. If they interest me I'll get them.

And strictly one version of each mold - nor repaints, remolds, redecos, etc..

I only things I deem in scale with DLX, VOY, and LEADER meaning only Autobots and no HA for a display ( although, I will get Decepticons just for fun).

Scale is kind of a bitch in Transformers. For me, close enough is good enough, if not, then fine. If I like a figure, I'll buy it, if I can.

I basically buy whatever I like. I've got an entire room devoted to toys, so i've got the space, for now. I used to buy EVERYTHING, but now i try to stick with just one of each mold, unless there's something worthwhile, like a new head or something. I've got Classics Sunstreaker, Sideswipe and Red Alert, cuz they're all different and g1, but things like my movie collection i generally stick to one of each mold.

I just get whatever I like. Been trying to limit my DOTM purchases as of late and find some RTS and Animated.
